Your words are well met. And they aren't hamsters. They are:

No color is everything because there are the wise space hamsters and then the false space hamsters, I must know!

What happened to Alvin?

He became too awesome for his body?

I want to test one :)

My TL: 700 AD the Tibetan Empire invades China then collapses early, Tang Chinese have early discovery of gunpowder and extra expansionism and awesomeness, absorbing Tibet as vassal and reaching Caspian coastline and downbeating both the Sassanid Persians and Arabs. Greater east-west exchange occurs.

Byzantines quickly adopt gunpowder and firmly reconquer the whole mediterranean area by 900 AD in alliance with super slavic kindgoms of upper balkans and lower ukraine. Frankish Empire is confined and focused on central france and germany, fights off vikings who turn to Britain as a softer target, and look more towards exploring the atlantic.

1100 AD, chinese awesomeness decreases back to normal, advanced slavic kingdoms seek Byzantine aid in wars against steppe incursions, allowing Arabs to invade Egypt again, economic turmoil. Frankish empire becomes heavily armed and expanded HRE style mess from atlantic coast to poland. Viking colonists get a firm toe-hold in canada.

1200 AD, Vikings of scandinavia (and bits of britain) united in one great kingdom and christianised, burgeoning trade coming from north america. Byzantine holdings in spain, southern france and northern italy are breaking away again, exploring into the Atlantic to seek their own trade routes...
Sounds fun! :D I'm in as Vinland. :p

Its ego problems that cause such conversations. Remember that we are trans-dimensional beings that shape reality to our will. We are the source of the whole universe, and more. If you base your sense of self on that, then you will not ever need to be 'right' or have approval of others. State your truth, and move on.

Speaking of which, I had a great Space Hamster day. :) Thanks for informing me of it Daft!

EDIT: On a side note, I personally think it would be more interesting to project what would have happened if the native americans had possessed an extra few thousand years to develop- put a handwaved 'time field' around the Americas where time passes twice as fast in the new world for a few thousand years or something. Arbitrary, yes, but still very interesting.

if you really want to give the Natives more of a fighting chance then A - need to have them get diseases earlier to build resistances and B - need horses / or other effective such creature.

At a bare minimum I imagine.

What I mean is no where in the Americas was there an effective draft animal. The vikings did use things like cattle and horses to run farms and wagons I imagine. The Native Americans did not have that. I did not mean purely in the military sense. In fact I mean more from the logistical side.

I've already voiced my complaints against it in SF. (Classic Red for moi)

The dies the fire setting is one in which some power or another change (seemingly on a case by case basis) many of the laws of Physics, causing much "Higher" technology to not work (Electrical devices, Gunpowder, dangerous chemical reactions, steam power) As such, society collapses, and small bands try to survive.

I'd try to run it rather similarly to this NES, with players having to balance Population and Food production... Or try to capitalize on another aspect with which to survive.

Id absolutely love to play.. it would require a lot of foreplanning of the map tho.. can we perhaps place a different park of our world?

You mean like Europe?

(but it'd require a lot of work to plan, though, if I use EQ's system it doesn't seem like it'd be all that hard to run... bet I'm going to eat my words, though)
