While We Wait: Writer's Block & Other Lame Excuses

The name Imperium Offtopicum has no place in a NES forum. That is all I meant. But I also dislike the idea of merger.

Never ending stories should always be in a forum that carries their name. That's the reason I came to the forum!

I'm asking if I can review Absolution as an "insider".

Someone got permission to review TerraNES, but I forgot who.

EDIT: The May Edition Planning thread is up. Please post in the Breakroom if you're helping out. Thanks!

EDITEDIT:The IOT is 1-up ing us with a Podcast and a Wiki. We should at least have a Newspaper, right?

There is at least one NESing Wiki out there.

I mean, people might have updated their Wiki in the last 4 years, that would put them ahead of us in some regards, but we do have a wiki.

For instance, I'm listed as dead on the NES wiki.

I approve of this cross-polination between IOT and NES.

And you're basically dead, SKILORD.

I decided to forgo my usual Evening scotch in favor of try the Spiced Rum that my roommates left. They spiced it themselves, and it tastes like all the spices are having a BDSM orgy in my mouth. Surprisingly delicious, once I learned to ignore the pain.

But WHY is all the Rum gone?

-

I might be dead. It would make more sense than you could know if I were just a very perplexed ghost.

But Absolution is still alive. That's enough for me. Viva la franquicia!

So #nes played a quick (4 hours) game of Diplomacy last night - the popular 1900 variant. It's getting a lot of love from #nes so it'll probably be my go-to variant for future Diplomacy threads.

Anyway, it was called in Spring 1903 for Dachs and Thlayli when people were too tired to continue. Here were the results.

We started with the following players:

madviking as the UK.
Kraznaya as France.
Dachs as Germany.
qoou as Italy.
Terrance as Russia.
Thlayli as Austria.
<nuke> as Turkey.

Spoiler Winter 1900 :

Nuke bailed on Turkey at this point, but luckily OwenGlyndwr was ready and willing (hahaha) to pick it up in his wake.

Then Terrance bailed on Russia. We recruited Matt, who hadn't really played Diplomacy in a long time, to replace him.

Then Matt, who was tired and not having fun being smashed anyway, takes his leave of Russia.

Nuke comes back from a wild night on the town to find a bunch of nerds still playing Diplomacy in an internet chat room. Despite not wanting to play as the Russians for some reason, we force him into it using the magic of Peer Pressure. So we once again have a Russia player.

Acknowledging that Dachs and Thlayli, combined, have over 18 supply, and realizing we had just spent 4 hours playing play-by-chatroom Diplomacy, we decide to call it a night.

Winners: Dachs (Germany) and Thlayli (Austria)

ggggg

good lessons learned:
don't try to diplo while watching basketball
make sure you proofread your own notation and don't rely on the mod to do it, he has to deal with 6 other people

I would like to nominate madviking's Spring 1903 stab as the least effective stab in the history of Diplomacy and its many variants.

Bleh. If I had stayed in I had the perfect strategy to push out the Thlaylistab in the Balkics. :p

Good Game All.

EDIT: lol. I mean Balkans and Baltics. :p

guys can we please have a working link to #NES stickied somewhere?? I've just been trawling for a correct link and trying to find #NES on mibbit. Nothing but dust and echoes (and spam sites).

Mibbit site: chat.mibbit.com
Server: razorvine.selfip.net
Room: #nes

If I had control over the FAQ Thread that I originally made, I'd have the instructions permanently posted. Instead, Abaddon plagiarized it and after his well-deserved liquidation it was handed over to an incompetent who hasn't updated the links.

Anyhow these are the current instructions for how to get onto #nes:

1. Go to this link.

2. Click on the button that says 'Server' and type in razorvine.selfip.net

3. Type in your nick and #nes in the channel field.

4. Profit.

If you download a program like Chatzilla, mIRC, or IceChat, it will connect you to the channel automagically.

d'oh!! I was missing the server, d'oh.

THANKYOU guys, I have bookmarked this page as the next best thing - hopefully wont lose the info again (being on multiple computers now doesn't help)

Cheers!
