Why Are Media Outlets Targeting YouTubers?

Explain the pop music world :o

You don't make it big in the pop music world by dumb luck. You have to usually be attractive, have good stage presence, and if you lack both of those you better know how to sing like a superstar.

And you have to have the endurance to be able to tour.

According to Vidstatsx (A site that keeps track of Youtuber stats), Pewdiepie lost a quarter-million subs for some reason two days before the WSJ article. The article doesn't appear to have affected his sub count, however.

The people who watch him don't care what wall street journal says, so it's obvious it would have no effect

Obviously the majority don't care, but I would expect at least a slight dip.
His content is on the same low level as the Wall Street Journal editorial page.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! I know he hired some guys to hold up a sign saying "death to all jews", but let's not go comparing him to the WSJ Editorial page!

Fairly ironic as the initials of one of the mouthpieces of Neoconservatism. But I also find myself mixing the initials up lately. Thanks, Obama!

Most of the youtube celebrities really don't present anything intelligent. That said, it is not like YT celebs have to be intelligent/more intelligent than average. YT celeb videos are a bit like 90s MTV shows, they tend to be watched by teens and are tongue-in-cheek and/or about adolescence/sexuality/pop culture.

Eg, Anna Akana (?) is one such celeb. Doesn't say anything important or useful, but is fun to watch, if you are a teen or (i guess) tweenophile? Or just like how some east-asian women look :yup:

Man, this is some hardcore arrogance simply because you don't enjoy the content they create. Why you gotta be like that? Who hurt you? Is it really so difficult to just acknowledge that some people enjoy different things than you and that's alright? Why do they have to be stupid? Why do they have to be less than you?
