I just rewatched the youtube with that kid in New Orleans who asks Obama "Why does everybody hate you?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BewOcp1JtDU&feature=related

So, why? Some reasons I can remember:

- Failing to close Guantanomo
- Not getting enough people into jobs
- Trying too hard to please everyone (and irritating everyone)
- Authorizing indefinite detention of terror suspects
- Not doing enough about Climate Change
- Obamacare?
- Not balancing the budget

There's also the peace prize he won for nothing but I don't think you can really blame him for that.

Why does everybody hate Obama?
Simple.
He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy!

I think pretty much any elected leader is going to get a lot of hate. Adding on to that, he pretty much has to compromise on everything to get anything done at all, and you end up with both his hardcore base being angry and the Republicans as well (who were not going to like him no matter what).

If Romney wins the election, I don't see him getting a lot of love for pretty much the same reasons.

Exactly... If Romney wins, I'll probably end up hating him within a matter of months too...

But, generally speaking, you win with a majority... the opposition doesn't like you.

I think it's because he campaigned on a platform of change but it feels like, at least on the ground level, not much has changed at all. People feel let down.

These are legitimate complaints...

- Obamacare?
- Not getting enough people into jobs
- Not balancing the budget
- Not doing enough about Climate Change

These aren't. They simply aren't within his power.

Obamacare would have been a whole lot more effective and tolerable if right-wingers and the insurance lobby hadn't fought so hard against a public option.

Getting people jobs isn't something the president can just do. He could create some sort of infrastructure program, which would would generate a lot of jobs (and I think he should do so), but it's next to impossible to do anything like that while trying to balance the budget (which is a stupid goal during a recession anyway).

As for Climate Change, he did institute subsidies for green energy programs did he not? And as far as an international agreement goes, it's remarkable things are going as well as they are, given the insane hostility offered up by certain radically conservative politicians, both domestic and foreign (including Canada sadly).

Yes, but the answer lies outside the American political paradigm. There is an alternative to the Democrats which is not the Republicans, which the American people have not yet explored; but such things are not often spoken of in polite discussion, except when followed by snarls and odium.

Libertarianism?

Actually, things have changed a lot. The budget deficit, for example, has gotten way bigger, and we're much closer to a dollar crisis. Oh, and American citizens on American soil can now be detained indefinitely, or so I've heard.

Because he's a dickwad corrupt politician exactly like the rest of them.

That too.

There isn't though. They use a "first past the post" system, which always devolves to a 2 party system. If a party rose up to replace the republicans or democrats, it would eventually end up being exactly like the thing it replaced..
