Having a monarchy automatically excludes us from being a republic, you know.

No I wouldn't. When I look at people who openly identify themselves as atheists it makes me nervous, I think why are they doing that?

yes, I would vote for an atheist (and probably already have). I'd also vote for a christian, muslim, or whatnot...

Not if it turns out to be a tulip when you actually look at it.
that's assuming that these people actually would know the difference between rose and tulip...

Well does your Queen actually have any power? I heard she can dissolve parliament but does she actually have the power to rule directly in an emergency such as that?

Queenie has no power.

Which one?

Mormon, Baptist, Southern Baptist, non-denominational, Catholic, Methodist, etc. etc. etc.

The UKs is the Church of England. Which church are you referring to for the USA?

It isn't a state religion, so all of them, considered as one religion, Christianity. Or are you denying that Christianity is a religion? My point, that the dominant religion in the USA, even if it isn't a state religion, is Christianity, stands.

Snarky? Was it factually correct or not?

Factually correct, and utterly irrelevant to the amount of influence religion has on politics.

I would, but because his other views coincide with mine. I elect someone to the state to deal with the things in the state i want him to deal with. I don't believe the state can handle religious affairs, since everyone ends up losing when that happens.

Just England, in this case- Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have no established church.

Having CoE as state religion only really affects the Queen and her immediate heirs though. It has no effect on politics.
Well, except the bishops who sit in the House of Lords, but that's not a big deal. They're probably some of the less awful members, if I'm honest- at least they actually earned their spot.

I voted earlier. Why wouldnt I vote for one.

Only if that Atheist promises to destroy all places of worship in my country and institute surveillance on all religious people. It's True Atheism. I dislike the so-called "agnostics and moderate Atheists".

I seriously hope you are being sarcastic.

I always felt that religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, race/culture, etc didn't merit any consideration when electing people in politics.

On second thoughts I would vote for an atheist if they did this plus banning all religon and instituting re-education camps for the religous. Then I would be ok with electing them to office.

That would actually make for a really awesome end to an 8-year term (since you can't get back in, go out with a bang)

All other things being equal I'd vote for an athiest over a non-athiest. Better the candidate be free of religious immorality.

I voted yes. If someone shares the same ideas as me and is an athiest, then they are a rare canidate and I would support them.

How can we consider christianity all one religion, but not islam when it comes to things like the ground zero mosque? :(

Sounds like a double-standard to me there...
