[Insert Traitorfish insisting that the US presidency is an elective monarchy because John Adams and et cetera.]

Well, to be fair I should have said the more popular "God King" that he aspires to be. In any case, I'm just glad he has been stopped on occasion because as it turns out some people (not many) still have morals.

But I guess electing a king wasn't an uncommon idea; think the Federalists went at it.

If a system under Trump works, it's cos of standards have been lowered.
Comes naturally with internets taking over traditional culture & habits, i bet some of our previous generations would turn in their graves right now.

It's interesting that you mention shame. He has turned out to be a decent President on substance. I'll leave things like shaming to those who feel it is an appropriate device.

What substance? Everything has been PR. Once you start looking at the substance behind the PR, you are left with nothingness, negative results, and/or crimes. The few thing that are arguably positive are continuation of trends started by President Obama.

Regardless of Obama obviously having better traits than trump, one should not forget that he was also what led to trump. If obama hadnt let down by not keeping his promises to his voters re hope & change, there wouldnt have been so many obama voters who then turned to trump. Though still the main reason you got trump was hillary.

Obama's "problem" was that he was black, not that he failed to deliver hope and change.

For all the people who talk about "so many Obama voters turned to Trump" I have yet to see anyone prove they exist. All the demographics of the election point to Trump winning because of voters who did not vote in previous recent elections turning out to vote for him. Since you seem to be convinced otherwise, can you support your alternative view?

States that went for Obama went for Trump. But that could be people who didn't vote in 2008 & 12 turning out in 16 for Trump and those who did turn out in 08 and 12 not turning out for Hillary.

For all that, there are probably some (and I think both CNN and MSNBC have had occasional features centering on such a population). The fundamental sales pitch for a presidential candidate is hope. Obama had that pitch in 08; Trump had it in 16.

(Trump will no longer be able to have it in 2020.)

Realignment, indeed.

Obama-Trump voters do exist, making up about 9% of Obama's voter base. Study, NYT article, Guardian article, Economist article (this one pointing out that 2018 results in the Midwest were consistent with most of them flipping back).

They are disproportionately Midwestern, working-to-middle class, and with higher levels of "racial resentment" or "status anxiety" than most Obama voters. They're partially offset by Romney-Clinton voters, about 6% of Romney's total, who are disproportionately wealthier, more suburban, and more likely to live in states that don't matter in the EC (e.g. CA, TX, most of the Northeast).

I kinda love the terms the coast slaps on economic interests. They speak volumes.

Ι refer you to the us a mainstream media; i recall that line presented often by those :o

I recall plenty of catchy lines used in media that have no basis in fact. I generally don't quote them as gospel truths.

"Exist" was a poor choice of word on my part. I was more interested in the way Kyriakos et al seem to blithely act like the Democratic party suffered some sort of wholesale desertion.

you have something sort of right--everything about the opposition is PR.

You can only claim Trump has made no substantive changes if you are disingenuous or in denial. President Obama was praised for a lesser economy and higher unemployment. The reductions in regulation, the tax reform law, North Korea, the defeat of ISIS would be feathers in any President cap. There is a reason that Trump polls better among Republicans that Obama did among Democrats--he delivered.

Be racist, get called out for it.
Doesn't work in context. Try again.
