Not really. Student debt is one of the largest driver's of the racial wealth gap. The gap in student debt between white and black young adults grows almost 7% each year, and black young adults hold over 10% less wealth than white young adults entirely driven from student debt. And while mid-tier incomes owe more in student debt in raw dollars, as a percentage of income/wealth, the lowest quintile of annual income bares the most burden, with those in the lowest quintile on average having a debt to income ratio greater than 100%. No other income quintile has that same burden.
