Random inquiry of mine:

Is it just me or is it dissapointing that the only two candidates that have any real chance of being our president for the next 4 years both have credible sexual assault allegations against them? Speaking for myself, I am definitely dissaponted that a country of well over 300 million people can't come up with anything better than these buffoons.

Every candidate from hereon out will have sexual assault allegations, so I'm pleased you used the word 'credible'. When it comes to accusations like this, especially with famous people, it's necessary to curate the accusations down to the very most credible ones and examine them. There will always be allegations, so the curation is necessary.

Natasha Stoynoff met that standard for me, easily.

But, not sure why you're disappointed. Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent annually, each party doing their very best in order to forward the best candidate possible. Both Trump and Biden being the best possible candidates is virtually a Free Market Guarantee!

It is disappointing. Just because Donald Trump has actually boasted of his sexual misconduct doesn't mean that
It is, as many elections around the world have been recently, one between bad/incompetent and downright evil. In Europe the choice is often between the bland know-it-alls who either were supposed to be on watch before the 2008 crisis happened or designed the highly imperfect rescue plans that came afterwards, on the one side, and actual not-that-neo Nazis who campaign on expelling Jews, Gypsies and Arabs from our great pristine European motherland, and their local equivalents are operating in other continents, skilfully financed by heavier players. Of course, as Cutlass has already posted, you have 88-14 Trump campaigners in the US.

And none of that means that the accusations against Joe Biden cannot have merit of their own simply because Trump is worse. That is one of the reasons why I think the choice of a VP candidate is so particularly important in this of all elections.

I did just post that an unfettered capitalist free market inevitably results in caretlisation in the Great Quotes thread, I'll have you know.

The sexual assault charge against Biden is not credible.

I agree with the 2nd sentence though.

Just because someone might be a terrible person does not mean they are a terrible politician. And by politician, I mean having the ability to convince people to vote for them, not necessarily being a good leader.

So you ask how those types of people can be the only real candidates? Because they are terrible people, yet excellent politicians.

I think the US is mostly _____ and will never really recover, but as consolation seeing D'ump and the GOP get absolutely destroyed in the November election will be pretty satisfying.

The world is mostly effed, the US is just leading the way :high5:

I actually think a complete collapse of the US, while it would certainly make for difficult times worldwide, is a storm the rest of the world could weather...and would probably be net good in the long run.

Democrats will win a landslide in November, but then will be getting blamed for the downfall of American Hegemony, caused by events before they were in power. They will sacrifice their party for political reform though, hopefully the two years until the loss of the House will be enough (it won't be).

Yeah, electoral reform is going to be painted as unamerican, and painted hard. It likely will not happen, and the Democrats will get pilloried for trying.

While I generally agree, it will be interesting to see when a Woman finally gets another chance if someone will come forward.

By the look of things, the US is withdrawing from the WHO. By the look of things, it’s the same story of a US-China rivalry. I’m getting concerned with going all in with the US going isolationist under Trump.

Don't you need at least a year's warning to exit it?

And would a different administration be allowed to undo this move?

Biden's VP might get the job if Biden steps down before 4 years are up. The smart Democratic play, if Biden wins, is for him to lead for two years, step down and give his VP two years to become the incumbent and then run for two more terms.

I might write in John Roberts. He seems like a reasonable guy.
I think we need to start forwarding a consistent someone that people who would never vote for Biden will write-in instead of Trump.
Colin Powell got third place last election. I think Kaesich represents what a lot of Republicans 'want' to be.

Honestly, they should just write in Smeagol.
"I want a amoral sleazebag who cuts funding for childhood education, sells out the planet for Koch Kash, and gets a semi when thinking about bombing brown people; but don't want them to be weird."

I'm not sure what the longterm gametheory is of suggesting people vote in Smeagol. I want to suggest someone that they'll consider writing in.
