2nd Run NFL Mock Draft Thread

Speaking of the Jets, the Falcons just worked out a contract with Abraham and are now trying to work out a trade with the Jets to acquire him...that could mean the Falcons first going to the Jets.

That sounds like a win-win for both teams. Additon by subtraction for the Jets and the Falcons get a good quality linemen for a mid first. I'm sure the Falcons will get a pick from the middle rounds as well.

Now speaking of the Falcons, they just pulled a trade with my Browns. They sent their 4th rounder to Cleveland for DB Chris Crocker. Crocker is a former 3rd rounder from the Butch Davis era. He was a decent player holding his own as a starting strong safety, but probably better suited as a free or nickelback. He just wasn't physical enough for the position in the Crennel defense. Not a bad trade for either team.

Also, I doubt the Jets send a pick in addition to Abraham to the Falcons for that first rounder. If anything the Falcons might ship a late round pick this year or a mid-round pick next year.

Alright, now this is getting really intriguing. Apparently their are reports off NFL.com that the Jets have sent Abraham to the Seahawks for the 31st pick. At the same time there are the falcons reports...I wonder how this is going to turn out.

Hopefully not like the T.O. thing a couple of years back when the Niners shipped him to Baltimore, but he had "worked" out a deal with the Eagles.

Hey, I can't blame TO for that, I know I wouldn't want to play for the ratbirds.

If I'm Abraham I'd love a chance at a ring with the Hawks. The Falcons aren't that good IMO.

Round 1 - Pick 4

Reggie Bush -Running Back - Southern California

With the 5th pick of the 1st round the Green Bay Packers select LB A.J. Hawk from Ohio State University.

Somewhere deep in San Fran people begin to cry....

With the 6th pick of the 1st round the San Francisco 49ers select Michael Huff, DB from the University of Texas. Tough call here, but a good/great safety, ala Ronnie Lott, has more impact than a 340 DT in my opinion. If anyone had begged up for either Young or Cutler the Niners would bite to move down I bet!

The Falcons problem was run defense, not pass defense...

Apparently the Falcons feel differently, after the physical to complete the Crocker deal they have also signed Lawyer Milloy to a 3 year deal.

I'm just thinking outloud here...but does anybody else think that it might not be a bad idea for the Bengals to trade up to get Williams?

lurker's comment:
FYI: In the wake of the Brees signing, a lot of pundits are considering Mario Williams for the Saints. We're not the only ones.

BTW, AJ Hawk for the Packers

It depends on how far and how much they have to give up... the browns are always willing to consider a trade down deal, granted it would be with a divisional rival..

Sorry, didn't make my last pick clear enough, but people seem to have worked out that it was actually Leinart.

I also have a couple of requests. Can we please have a list of teams without a gm? The sign up thread doesn't have one.

[edit]done it myself. Currently available according to start of signup thread are:

AFC:
East:
Miami Dolphins
North:
Baltimore Ravens
South:
Houston Texans
Indy Colts
Jacksonville Jaguars

NFC North:
Minnesota Vikings - Woodelf has the rest of the division, want the vikings too?
South:
Saints - AlCosta
Tampa Bay Bucs
West:
Seattle Seahawks

Also, since we had some confusion last time, I have a suggestion for the reserved posts in this thread. What about a list of prospects at each spot, crossed out as you update the choices?. Doesn't have to be completely inclusive, it could just be for the current round or so, but an alphabetical list makes it easier to tell if a player is available, rather than reading through the list of picks and possibly missing a name.

I was thinking maybe giving up my 1st, 3rd and 4th for a first and another late round pick. I figure that our secondary wont be effective without a better pass rush/run D. The other glaring need is a TE, which i feel like I can address in round 2. Other needs (depth in my lines, and another backup WR), i think i can get in the later rounds or in free agency

I havent decided 100% if this is a good idea...just floating it

boo, offer one of your recievers or something :p Since Antonio Bryant is gone.
