I've never actually tasted British food. The American ethic is if you fry anything enough and douse it in flour and sugar, it'll taste amazing.

The British have a similar approach, we just skip all the spices and, y'know, cooking ability that Americans use to make it all worth the heart disease.

Honestly, if you want good British food, you want British-Indian food. Its far better than anything that we had before it, and, surprisingly to many, much of it is better understood as British cuisine derived from Indian cuisine, having very much it's own character.
