Belarus riots

I'm pretty Austria did just that to Russia and Prussia in the "Three Emperors' League," age during the Revolutions of 1848. And, at the time, it actually worked as a tactic...
But at least not one of the three countries was pretending to be anything other than an absolutist monarchy.

Yes, we all already know of your deconstructionist, fatalist, nihilistic, edgelord, Frankfurt school viewpoints and using them to conedescendingly look down on anyone's desire for betterment in the world...

I've been mostly abstaining from opinion on this because I know little of Belarus. But I suspect that Craig Murray's assessment on the situation there is reasonably informed and correct.

There was a pro-Lukashenko rally today in Minsk, with about 5-10 thousands people attending.

Also, Lukashenko released 32 Russian PMC contractors arrested before elections. They had a transit flight to Venezuela but were arrested in Belarus and blamed in organizing a coup. Ukraine was trying to extradite them. Strange story. Looks like Lukashenko was holding them as hostages for election time, threatening extradition to Ukraine.

‘Prop up my dictatorship and fake election results or else I won't let these guys from your country go and do the same thing in another’.

Aren't you the one pro people's revolution?

Are you disputing that Lukashenko isn't a corrupt authoritarian dictator?

I believe @Crezth is not exactly forthcoming or consistent, and certainly not honest, about their viewpoints on things...

Or possibly sarcastic, with Poe's Law in operation.

He is a dictator, the revolution is not a people’s revolution however just because some people declare it is.

That's a lot of people in the streets.

IDK if you remember the Baltic States doing it 30 odd years ago.

Lot of people in the American streets too, I distinctly remember you saying “revolution seems too harsh.”

Generally they should be reasonably peaceful vs civil war.

USA ones were BLMnot let's get rid of the government although I'm sure there were a few of them.

But yeah if protests in USA hit critical mass to change the system and the blood shed is minimal why not?

As long as whatever replaced it doesn't have to resort to force to impose their views.

Main reason I'm opposed to revolutions generally is it often leads to civil war where the winners usually use force to impose their views and often make things worse.

And as a last resort.

Interesting take. The thing is what can come of this. Do you think it stands a chance of normalisation?
