Broadcasted publicly over Appalachian Radio:
My fellow citizens, today is our one year anniversary over the defeat of the tyrannical Oaksdale Raiders. I have declared today and all future January 23rds a national holiday and, as such, only those activities that are necessary for our safety shall be required to be performed today. In honor of today, we will now begin broadcasting the music and radio plays around the clock with important news broadcasted on the hour. Today, we honor all our citizens who have so generously given their lives so that the Commonwealth will survive and prosper in the dark post-apocalyptic times. Take the day off, enjoy the company of your family and comfort those who may be without a loved one today. Show them your appreciation for all that they have given so that the commonwealth can remain a safe haven of civility in this savage wasteland.
We are the future. We are the ones who will lead the world into a new age of prosperity. Unfortunately such gains cannot be made without some hard choices and tough sacrifices. We must remain vigilant. It is to those who have lost much that we dedicate to today.
That being said, I must ask all the citizens to make one more sacrifice for everyone’s safety. I know many of you are upset over our public broadcast that took place several days after our victory over the raiders last year, but this broadcast was for the good of the commonwealth. There have been no raider attacks since that broadcast because they are afraid of what we will do to them. That broadcast kept the raiders a bay for a year, and I am asking you to let us do this on a continuing basis when we captured raiders alive. Torture is a horrible thing and no one enjoys doing it, but I tell you we are all safer for it. This is not a decision I can make for you, the citizens, as I’m sure such actions may weigh heavy on your conscience. As such, I have declared a public referendum on this issue. In order for us to continue this action in order to keep the raiders at bay, I will require a two-thirds approval from the populace.
As this is a referendum and not an election, I would like to remind everyone that your votes are publically available to anyone and everyone who requests a copy of the voting record as per our constitution article 3 subsection 3 line 5. If you are worried that the neighbors or your family will be upset about your vote, that is likely a sign that you are not voting for what is best for the Commonwealth. I hope everyone will put the safety of the Commonwealth above their uneasiness of the actions that will ensure this safety.
This is Robert Brown, your beloved overseer, signing out.
@EQ My stats are off. I should have 2 energy at the moment. Thanks
