CBob03 Germans in Tu-tus

AFAIK the general etiquette is to avoid do-overs in SGs.

That said, I'll listen to peer pressure and side with the majority on this one :)

Let's go with the first save.

And a well deserved 'Ataboy' to TheOverseer714 for having the gumption and grit to admit a mistake and then offering a solution to it.

:salute:

Sticking with the first save means that the next player(s) may have to get the settler factories back in order. Not real fun, but doable. And we'll learn more about settler factories by fixing the problem; I know I will.

By playing the first save, we just take the game as it comes. If we goof, we goof. If we lose, we restart. But we don't redo once it is posted.

i agree with both points. i'm sure overseer learned a lot during his replay and the next player will get to experience bringing the game back on line.

How do I exactly get to bring the settler factory back in line?

Btw, do we start settling CxxC? I had a couple spots in mind we could fill in...

I can't find my game disk, so I'm no help here. :(

If the cities are corrupt, sure. If they are still somewhat productive, using the guidelines discussed a few pages back, ...well, maybe not.

In the government that we're in and with the number of cities we possess, corruption is already rampant. :)

I can take a look at the save tonight and post instructions, but if you'd like to try to puzzle it out yourself, keep in mind that you need enough food to grow twice (previously, it was supposed to run from size 4 with 6 food in the bin to size 6 with 6 food in the bin).

You also need a total of 30 shields over 4 turns; keep in mind that you'll get an extra two shields as soon as you get a new citizen (from working a forest on the IT when the new citizen is born).

It should actually be really easy to get it set up now; we're getting extra food from the wheat, so there's a bit of margin for error.

I've never been an expert on settler factories, I have only gotten one set up before, and that was an accident! So, if it's not too much trouble, please post instructions on how to regain the factory. :)

Considered it a real life word problem; 30 shields in 4 turns and 20 extra food in 4 turns equal one new settler but only when the city begins making the settler at size 4, with a granary, and the food box is empty.

At least, that is how I think the problem is set up.

:crazyeye:

Parle-vous algebra?

I did learn alot. I think minus the despotism penalty, we could have either a 2 turn worker factory at Heinz Chur, or another settler factory there. That town has an irrigated wheat on grass which gives 5 food by itself, plus 1regular irrigated grass which gives 3 food. It does need a granary though if it's to be either. It was worth doing over just to know this SG better.

Before doing anything else:

First, go to JSBach and turn everyone into clowns. They're working Hartig's squares.

Second, switch Hartig from a Market to a Settler.

Assign citizens:
two citizens on forests,
three on BGs,
one on a mined grassland.

Go back to JSBach and put the citizens back to work.

End the turn and play normally until HFH produces a settler. Once that happens, put the citizens on the three mined BGs and one of the wheat fields. It should grow in two turns.

Once it grows (two turns later), move the new citizen from the forest to a mined grassland.

The settler will complete two turns later, and we'll be back at size 4.

Also:

Make a Granary in Georg Hajdu, and it can be a 4-turn unattended settler factory.

Make a Granary in Heinz Chur, and it can be another 4-turn settler factory.

Make a Granary in Franz Ignaz von Beecke, irrigate its cow, and it can be a 2-turn worker pump.

Uh, sorry to interrupt, but I'm dropping out of this SG.

Not to be rude or anything, but now I remembered why I never got a 100k. It's just not my "cup of tea". Plus, as someone has said before (not in this SG, of course), if you're not enjoying the game, then leave, because you're not helping the rest of the team. Plus, school is starting soon, and SGs like these take up alot of my time (I'm not the best empire manager...)

Call me lazy, but I'm just not into 100k's. I'm sorry CB and the rest of the team.

Ansar, I'm sorry to see you go. I appreciated your contribution to the game.

Did you happen to get partway through the set before making this decision, or did the pre-turn itself fan the flames of your discontent? If you got a few turns in, please post the save!

Also, just out of curiosity - what IS your cup of tea when it comes to Civ 3?

Well,

1. I haven't been really paying much attention to the game, plus I haven't really contributed either.
2. Overly huge empires bore me.

Well, AW Games are fun - in an SG, cause' I suck in solo.

I enjoy playing Spaceship/Diplomatic games and wars in the Modern Age using bombers and tanks and Mechanized Infantry. I like games that go past the Middle Ages/Early Industrial Age. Though I prefer to play those games in solo mode because I have a weird way of playing that no one really plays by (I CxxxC, I usually like building wonders, heck, I sometimes build temples). Though that is the fun in civ that I like, building everything. Plus, usually people want to use the "best" strategy and just build their core and then science farms, but I like having all my cities be useful, even if half of their shield are corrupt). Also, I like to keep the AI in the game - they always fall behind in my games.

To sum it up: I play like a noob (I like to build all kinds of things), yet I win all the time in Emperor.

Hay guys,

Good to see everything is going so well. My comp with civ3 should be fixed by the end of the week, then I can play again and stuff.

Sorry I had to leave for a while.

Ansar, I am sorry to see you go. It has been a while since we played together, back in Whomp05, and I was looking forward to more of you in this game. :(

I understand about a culture game not being your cup of tea. And like you, my solo games aren't so hot. I would rather build than fight, even when I plan to win by conquest. :crazyeye: This is my first culture game since I left Chieftain, and on a huge map to boot! Being sophisticated just seems duller than being barbaric, but we shall see. (Crumpets and tea vs. blood and guts.)

Please, feel free to lurk and offer suggestions.

lurker's comment: Yeah, those were the days... :)

Maybe a SG where we play peacefully until the Modern Age in which we become Xenophobic and kill all the AI?
