CoD: MW2 will NOT have dedicated servers for the PC

Yeah Bobby Kotick is a money-grubbing capitalist pigdog. However, he is the CEO of a company which owns a number of really good game developers who will make good games despite him. Although they will likely be mass-appeal games instead of any truly unique games.

EDIT: Someone commented on that link saying;
"His attitude is the same as the music industry… and see how well its turning out for them?!"

Yeah, the music industry... now there is a whole lot of corporate pigs in suits so blinded by their lust for more and more money they have long since lost touch with reality.

Let's get some riots organised and storm the infinity ward studios with torches.

they should have just labelled the article "bobby kotick promotes video game piracy". i would bet a lot of money that MW2 becomes the most pirated game since spore.

Good dear god!!Did anybody see the leaked first level footage? I realize what they were trying to do but crap man......

Maybe if your IQ is 85.

They are doing this for two reasons:

To curb piracy...in a very failtacular manner.

To cash in on DLC which will have to be bought via this IWnet thingy.

Wait, what?

Pirated games have NEVER been able to play online (i tried with many)

This will only increase piracy as people won't pay $50-$70 for a single-player in this day and age...

People won't buy DLC if they a) pirate the game b) don't buy the game

Depends on the game, it is difficult to play multiplayer with many games, especially FPS, some cracked RTS games can be played online. MW2 will be tied into STEAM which means no online play for pirates (there are cracked servers for some source/steam games, but they are rare and just as unstable as any other server).

I think it is possible to play CoD4 if you have pirated the game, but I'm not sure. There are certainly servers around that don't have punkbuster running, but these seem to have hackers in unlike the regular servers. I don't know if the lack of punkbuster allows pirates on or just hackers.

A friend of mine moved to Australia and I tried to play online with him, but we had to play through either servers with awful ping for one of us, or some dodgy middle ground no-punkbuster server. It wasn't pleasant and we gave up in the end.

I've played scores of pirated games online. Where there's a will there's a way. Not all of them are worth it though. But it's good for testing a game's multi and weather it's worth 50$.

Well, at least I have the original one. It was pretty fun too, though the campaign was sadly kinda short.

I'm confused, what game are we talking about again?

The original CoD: MW.
