Spring 1903

WARS LOSING STEAM
After signing peace with Norway, invading Spanish France, and apparently losing the North Sea last year, England's chief of staff of the army and the entire Admiralty went on vacation, leaving the english armies out doing nothing. As well, Russia and Austria both did nothing this year, surprising many in the Balkans.

SPANISH JUGGERNAUT ROLLS
Spain continued their advance, conquering Marseilles to control all three important provinces of France. Meanwhile, in the Franco-Prussian war, Germany took Munich from france, however it is still possible that Berlin will fall over the summer.

ALLIANCES SHAKEN UP
Though last year Turkey, Russia, and Italy were allied against Austria, this year they are fighting. Turkey took Italian Greece, and attempted to invade Russian Sevastapol, while Russia again tried to invade Turkish Rumania.

Please have orders in by WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2008 at 10:00 PM EST

If an extension is needed, TELL ME. However if you do not tell me anything, and are late, I will not accept the orders.

It has came to my attention, that the player for italy cannot be here to send orders, so he has asked me on one or more occasions to send them for him. I have declined when he asked me to do so, because I believe it shouldn't be allowed at all. I now have come to find out that other players have sent in orders for Qoou before, and are about to do it this time. I quit, if this is allowed to continue. It affects gameplay WAY too much for another country to be able to deliver orders for another player.

Why, is it particularly game breaking?

I know that in no circumstances have italian orders affected any other nation's orders, however, if you would like, I can make a rule saying that only a non-player can send orders for qoou.

(I knew turkey was taking greece before he knew italy was moving to albania, and russia and italy have had nothing to do with each other beforehand)

It just should not be allowed what-so-ever in a game like this. Players knowing what other players moves are, they can use it while making diplomacy, the player sending orders for the other player can alter them.

If I have so and so send in orders for me, and it's an order to stab an ally and it goes wrong, I can say "Hey! I didn't tell you to send those!"

It opens up a HUGE can of worms, and I'm not willing to play a second longer on a diplomacy game where this practice is allowed.

I can agree with players sending orders to a non-player and that person submitting them.

And while they have not affected anyone's orders, they have effected diplomacy. A key factor in the game.

With games I run, if a third party gives me orders from another player, I will accept it if I can tell that it is from who he claims it to be (signature, advance warning, etc). However, if the messenger decided to alter the orders en route, I am forced to accept them as is, provided I don't have a strong conviction that the given orders are not the sent orders. In an Internet game such as this, there is almost no way to verify such a thing if the orders are sent through another player. Italy is taking a risk, and could face some problems unless he uses a neutral observer.

Why should it be not allowed?

If advance warning is given, then whoever needs the orders sent assumes all the risk...

He could have just picked a nonplayer to send for him, after all.

From: Russia
To: Turkey

Just as we suspected...you vile Turkish swine have finally tried to take Sevestapool. Even though we did have an agreement, we would never have fully trusted you with that navy in the Black Sea. Now there is a state of war between us, good day.

From: Russia
To: Austria-Hungary

In light of recent actions by particular treaty breaking scum, we would love to accept your offer to drive the Turks back into the deserts of which they came.

Why can't he send them anyway?

I could be an intermediary if you wish.. I don't have a clue how this works so couldn't edit his orders and "cheat" even if i wanted to!

He cant cause he is at boarding school and there is some sort of firewall or blocking mechanism not allowing him to access the forums. He cant even see the maps. So he does it over AIM.

He gave me the orders to send this turn, but I agree with what Amon says. Just by looking at the orders he sent and the diplomacy I've done, I can easily predict what will occur with Italy, Turkey, and Austria. I already feel that is an unfair advantage enough. Thus, I would ask some other intermediary to send the orders for him in the future.

Are we joking here. What kind of advantage did I have getting his orders 2 minutes before I sent mine. Plus I had already decided what I was doing by then and did exactly that.

I could have infact done worse and put myself in a different position had I used his orders to my advantage.

Shut up and play the game.

I am also having trouble making the time for diplo and orders so I am offering Turkey up to be played by someone else.

I can always do it again. I can't say that Italy and Russia won't have some contact in the future...but as of right now, I am pretty neutral when it comes to those spaghetti slurping wackos. Of course, a non-player would be best for this.

EDIT:

I need diplomacy to be answered so I can send my orders. You know who you are.
