Hello,

I've been toying with the idea of a Dragon-Lance mod and scenario for a while now. I plan to learn to do and then make units, some leaderheads, multiple scenarii. Bref, a very very long term project. :mischief:

First step, a map for the War of the Lance. The Continent of Ansalon is a gigantic pangea-type continent. The ocean-land ratio is 1 of 2.

I was thinking of a 174*240 map or a 85*113.

What do you think ?

Here is 85*113.

Tough to say. I would go for the bigger so there is more room between cities and more accuracy to the map, etc. Also for bigger armies. I vote for 174x240.

One bigger than 85x113? Actually I would like that. More playable for those with wimpy pc's. Not mine of course, but for those who grumble about the size of my mod's map sizes. Yet it is big enough for me to enjoy and to have more detail and accuracy than the smaller one.

Looks good to me. Can't wait to see it when your done. What is the size for it?

Cool. Good size. Any idea what the factions will be in the mod?

I haven't got a definitive list yet.

Kagonesti (Elf)
Silvanesti (Elf)
Qualinesti (Elf)
Sancrist (Gnome)
Throtl (Hobgobelin)
Nordmaar (Human)
Ergoth (Human)
Abanasinie (Human)
Solamnie (Human)
Taman Busuk/Neraka (Human)
Balifor (Humain)
Khur (Human)
Kharolis (Human)
Tarsis (Human)
Goodlong (Kender)
Hylo (Kender)
Blood Sea Islands (Minotaur)
Thorbardin (Dwarf)
Kaolyn (Dwarf)
Zhakar (Dwarf)
Blode (Ogre)
Kern (Ogre)

It's a lot and I won't add anything. I will probably cut some, or keeping them for a bigger map version. Anyway, I've still got works before I could do any gameplay test.

Nice list. Some not even I reckognize. Nice job looking those up. Glad to see someone who knows about DragonLance do the mod.

*sigh*
I've been able to recovery my Civ3 files from my crashed hard disk!
I'll resume soon my work on this mod and my others projects.

Damn, I was afraid I would be forced to begin again from scratch..

Supa, i am glad to see someone doing a Dragonlance mod.
But i think the faction in Neraka should be Draconian, not human! most of the Dragon Leaders were Human, but all of the forces were Draconian. Also to be honest it would not be dragonlance without the Draconians! :D

I mean who can forget the Baaz, Kapak, Sivak, and Aurak Draconians!
Hell, one of the best moments in the DL saga was when Sturm first killed a Baaz, and lost his blade! The different abilities of the Draconians were very well thought out. :)
Just my 2 cents. :)

:nuke: Cheers Thorgrimm :nuke:

Plotinus > Balifor was indeed founded by the Kenders (Balif the Kender), but I think they moved east after, or the city has been captured at some point. Anyway, I'm almost sure Balifor was in human control in the beginning of War of Lance. I'll double-check.

Thorgrimm > Do not fear, I didn't drop the draconian out of the mod ! It would be heresy :) The first era begin before the creation of Draconian. They're will be available in the late of first era for some civilization (Neraka and perhaps Balifor). I don't know how I'll add the different sort of draconian, though. Aurak will probably the sorcerer-type unit. There will be a prototype draconian. But for the others ? The Noble Draconians would appear in the late last era, as weaker draconian units if the evil civs lost the control of the good eggs resources.

Here goes the updated list of civs : (I know, I said I wouldn't add anything but... :p)

Abanasania (Human)
Balifor (Human)
Blode (Ogre)
Daltigoth (Ogre)
Ergoth (Human)
Goodlong (Kender)
Hylo (Kender)
Kagonesti (Elf)
Kern (Ogre)
Kaolyn (Dwarf)
Kharolis (Human)
Khur (Human)
Lemish (Human) (It's the rebel Solamnic region)
Blood Sea Island (Minotaur)
Noordmar (Human)
Nuilond (Ghost)
Qualinesti (Elf)
Sancrist (Gnome)
Silvanesti (Elf)
Solamnia (Human)
Taman Busuk / Neraka (Human)
Tarsis (Human)
Thorbardin (Dwarf)
Throtl (Hobgobelin)
Zhakar (Dwarf)

Now, I think it's the definitive list. I hope

I could be mean and mention that you've missed out the people who live in the frozen wastes of the south - the Thanoi (isn't that what they're called? Walrus chappies) and those ice barbarians and so on... but that would just be mean!

It's going to be tricky to make some of these full-blown civs. Do we know of any other settlements associated with Tarsis, for example? I was under the impression that it was a kind of one-off city state.

I know about the Thanoi and the Icewall people but I choiced (sp?) to not include them as they didn't really have an army of any kind or a really great importance in WoL. Thanoi are basicly barbarian monsters and Ice-people are not many and not enough advanced. The Thanoi will perhaps make it as preplaced barbarians if I can make an unit for it, or if someone else do it.

I don't know much about Tarsis, but it got the same treatment as Abanasania. I gathered the multiple city-state as a whole civilization. Currently, Tarsis begin with 7 cities.

How about the Irda's (I don't know what they're called in english), those precessors of Ogres? Like the ones where the daughter of raistlin was raised (forgot her name)?

I've got no plan for the Irdas in the current scenario. They didn't have any contact with others civilizations from the Age of Dream until the War of Chaos.

They'll probably appear if I make a War of Chaos scenario or a complete DL mod.. But right now, I'm concentrate to the War of Lance sc.
