Thank you for saying that, now I wish Americans would acknowledge it. We can no longer fight all the world's battles.

This does not mean that the battles aren't coming. We just can't fight them alone. Trump was essentially throwing the EU out of the basement, time for them to get a job instead of living on Daddy's dime.

edit: and I think they got the message.

You haven't won war in a century, invaded Iraq and Afghanistan even though we told you that was a bad idea and nothing good would come of it, abandoned your allies in Vietnam and Syria/Iraq/Afghanistan, buggered off in Somalia and failed to show up in Ruanda.

Last time you achieved anything was in Korea iirc.

You're worthless allies, we're not paying for that :D

No, I didn't say that at all.

Why do you persist in telling LIES about what I say here?
Your question originally was

"What bad things happened in the world when the Donald Trump was in the White House?"

You listed two. In this post. You explicitly said that the only bad things you can recollect that happened while Trump was POTUS was Covid, and "a riot".

So yes, you said Trump had very few real issues. To be specific, you said Trump only had two. That you can remember, at least.

I wonder how long it would be for you to join in and get up to your usual trick of misrepresenting what I said.

The fact that I only chose to list two bad things is simply NOT the same as saying "Trump had very few issues".

What I find amusing is that so many of those who don't like Trump end up just like Trump talking nonsense.

thanks - yea this whole exchange is pretty ??? overall

ee also does some acrobatics here; "that's not what i meant" while then not clarifying what they meant. write something (supposedly) vague, (supposedly) get misunderstood, drop your monocles over it; be vague about the position in the pretend upset. i'm actually unsure why some people do this.

No, the fact that you said you can only remember two is different from electing to only list two.

That's on you, and not on anyone else that chooses to read the posts you wrote, as you wrote them. I recommend spending less time inventing theories as to why forumposters are "misrepresenting" your posts and instead spend more time on clarity.

So, what other issues do you think Trump had as president?

Nonsense like this you mean?
"I suspect that the increase in drone strikes primarily reflected an increase in production."
Or maybe:
"Although more bombing may also have been to try to reduce US military casualties."
Perhaps even:
"Recognising that the boundaries of the soviet republic of Ukraine made a poor basis for an independent state."

I find people breaking the windows in their glass house amusing.

I remember a time, not so long ago, when the world economy was not growing any longer. (before 2020)
Then coronavirus, then wars and... Badaboom! the world economy rose again (inflation etc...)
So.
What are we paying for again?
Destruction.
What is the next potus going to do about it?
Nothing :o

That's pretty accurate, not a century, but it's been a while. It is not my position that the EU should pay for US protection, rather, pay for your own defense. You are going to need it. And hopefully you lot will not sign up to fight China over Taiwon, a fight we can't win and might lead to a catastrophe.

As allies the US has been considerably worse than useless since the fall of the USSR. Something the Ukrainians are learning now. We just don't have what it takes to be truly hegemonic, and I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing.

To win a war you have to be willing to do what Bibi is doing, or Putin. And even Bibi will likely come up short. To win a war you have to be willing to do all of those things that are defined as war crimes. War is a criminal thing. Even to do the necessary, like getting rid of Bin Laden and ISIS, you have to be ruthless. If it's in our nature to do that, it has become harder to summon.

Very likely that is why the body politic summoned a man like Trump. We are rank with the stench of weakness and so the beasts come to feed, both inside and out.

Always strange how the bad guys are bad for being ruthless, but the good guys are good when they are.

It was the previous century yes, I would not go that far back, Gulf War I was relatively successful, as was the intervention in former Yugoslavia, as far as coalition warfare goes, but after 9/11 you lost your footing and never regained it, imho.

Just want to highlight this for anyone who thinks American conservatives aren't nazis
