Fall From Heaven NES

Jopa, next week I'm out of college so I will have a fair bit of free time. Expect a story or two ;).

Lanun and Svartalfar please respond to my diplomacy as soon as you can, thanks.

My answer may well depend on your answer ;). Besides I think 50 Gold is too much and I have to pay other nations for some outstanding trade agreements. Do you have msn?

The Amurite senate has come to a decision in regards to the standing stones of Killmorph and the Elohim monks who guard them.

We have decided to make this holy site available to any pilgrims who wish to visit and pay their homage and reverence to the holy site.

We hereby extend a universal invitation to all followers of Killmorph to complete their hajj free of hardship, tithes or taxation.

There are however, some limitations the Amurite senate places upon pilgrims on their holy journey.
  • While on the isle of Faeng, worshippers are expected to treat the site’s guardians, the Elohim monks with respect and humility.
  • No pilgrim may make the holy journey armed with a weapon more impressive then a staff or short dagger. No swords, bows, or spears will be allowed amongst pilgrims.
  • No pilgrims shall be allowed to remain on Faeng isle for a period of more then three days without the express invitation of the Elohim monks. Otherwise, pilgrims may stay in Cirial and are free to visit the stonecutting and polishing workshops surrounding our gem mines, a true blessing and a gift from Killmorph herself. (this may be an excellent time to pick up a souvenir to bring home to your family or friends)
  • While travelling through Amurite lands, pilgrims are expected to abide by Amurite law. Anyone caught raiding farmsteads or stealing livestock shall be tried, and if found guilty, suffer the full extent of Amurite law.

As a side note, we recognize that some states do not recognize Killmorph worship as authentic or acceptable. In those cases, we will be allowing those fearing religious persecution or tyranny to stay in Amurite lands once having made the pilgrimage, provided they abide by Amurite law and are respectful of social cohesion within our lands.

EDITED message based on what the jopa wrote below (post 615)

In Balseraph and Kuriotate lands, a Saints' Cult has appeared. Their worshipers worship graves and bodies of deceased, believing that their spirits and powers still linger around, so they both help their deceased by worshiping them, and in return gain their blessings and empowerment.
This wouldn't be a problem if people wouldn't start worshiping those who were known demon summoners, like dead Amurite Archmages Tyrion and Thomas. Their cults include blood sacrifice, human sacrifices and infernal pacts.

Dear friends, the Balseraph and Kuriotates,
A message from General Cassel, commander of the Banner of the True Sunrise,

We amurites know all too well the horror of cultists and demonic pacts. We fought against this sort of evil for many years and it is only through Junil's grace that we emerged at all, though the scars are deep and will never heal.

We beseach you, both Kuriotates and Balseraph people, do not allow these men free reign in your lands. Try them and if found guilty, send them to the next life to serve their new masters in that realm, leaving this realm in relative peace and prosperity.

The evils these men and women would invite into this world is too great to contemplate. Save yourselves as we have saved ourselves through Junil's grace: Turn your rightious blades and the cleansing fire upon these demonologists.

To the leaders and members of this so-called cult of 'saints'
,

Should you ever set foot in Amurite lands or otherwise fall under the authority of our laws rest assured that only blades and fiery spells await you.
The Amurite people will be barren ground for your hateful message. We have authorized the church of Junil to act as a judicial body in this matter, due to their experiences with demon-worshippers and cultists in the past and because this is a religious matter. I think that you will find that the justice of Junil and his followers exceptionally quick, even-handed and final.

Do not come to Amurite lands; Junil's army awaits you.

First General Nicholas Cassel, defender of the homeland and commander of the banner of the True Sunrise, on behalf of the Amurite senate

Children of Killmorph, Skilful and dexterous craftsmen, Industrious merchants, Dwarfs of Khazad

Once we were friends. Now is our relation spoiled by arrogant and unable rule of Kandros Fir who allowed the godless massacre of Ga Rur Nag orcs. Why many of you thinks of the Grindstone Plains as "yours", let me ask you by which claim do you usurp that land?

It's esy to tell why are Kazad lands Kahazad's or Kuriotates lands Kuriotates'. It's the work of the people what turned fallow nature into their property, what mixed the hard work of their with soil in inseparable way. And what work have you put into the Grindstone Plains? The sweat of your soldiers and blood of orcish children and women slaughtered without mercy? With enough dwarf blood pointlessly spilled there, could I nullify this vicious claim? Have you forgotten what is written in Tablets of Brambur? Killmorph cries over her chosen who once the apex of artisans, craftsmen many wanted to become, turned into common muggers.

Trust me, I wanted no aggression against children of Underhome and my heart was torn apart when I send my soldiers for search to Caius Thorne. I known that many brave soldiers, both Kuriotate and Khazad, would die and wont' see the dawn of new day again. But such is fate of watchmen. They have to punish the thieves and murderers to protect the society from them and to deter them form the path of crime, the path of taking instead of working. My forces are now withdrawing from the Grindstone plains but if any dwarves would try to violate the soil that doesn't belong to him, he will be punished. For such is the law.

And while you could be tempted to think of yourselves as a solid rock standing tall and proud against waves in raging storm, the truth is different. You are tall and proud mountain raising on the shoe of still lake. But pride overcame the mountain and it decided that it is not big enough. So the mountain started to crumble and boulder fallen into mud at the shore. It sank but before it managed to stain itself as well the mountain. The proud mountain is now smaller and dirty. Should the mountain try it again? And I would like to give the Khazad one good advice. If the mountain shall try to grow at the expense of lake, any boulder that would fall into lake would be welcomed by the cold embrace of the water, the embrace you know only as a warm and friendly, and will descend on the bottom where it will lie till the end days and will enlarge only the lake. Even if the whole mountain turned itself into the deep, it will manage nothing. When the roots of mountains run deep, the water runs deeper.

I hope it was worth the waiting.

Jopa? Could you add me in MSN? I have some problems with my msn pluggin. My mail is the same as for orders.

Grindstone plains are ours and we will settle there with or without your consent.
For such is the law.
Only Khazad law prevails in Khazad lands. Kuriotates should one day understand that their law is not that of all people of Erebus and should stop trying to push it over others.

First you insulted our consul Kandros Fir.
Next, you insulted the Senate as a whole by pretending to judge our general when we had announced we were going to review his acts.
By doing so, you insulted the whole Khazad nation, for "The Senate is the People of Khazad".

Incidentally, although general Thorne's actions were first judged as needlessly cruel, the attack you suffered from by Hippus gave weight to his words that it was a necessity for him to get rid of a danger at our doors. Let it be known that general Thorne has therefore been allowed to command Khazad troops again should the need arise. But in order to avoid reckless actions, the Senate has decided that a consul should accompany and advise the leader of the army in matters that don't pertain to the battlefield, offensive or defensive organisation.

You want to march into Kwathelhelar? You should hurry because there are others heading towards same end. As I stated, we have no claims on Grindstone Plains, but we would protect it from your unlawful aggression.

And I will gladly pay you right after you send compensation to the orcs that survived the massacre for killing their fellows and taking their land.

And I don't care if Caius Thorne is judged by your senate. I don't want him to be judged before dwarves for offending their battle doctrines. I want to see him judged before orcs for genocide. And you show your true nature when you don't distinguish between soldiers and civilians.

Cardith Lorda, Emperor of Kuriotates

Huh... This is a bit too restrictive - are you aware we are talking about minimal 50-100 miles distance, including ship travel, and foot or donkey travel to the site? And back?
Not that it CAN'T be done, but this will turn back at least half of the pilgrims.

Heh. Talk about that to any Croat. :s

Heeding the advice of many foreign countries, Archduchess Lydia Valary, who styles herself Lydia, Queen of the Summer Court, made her peace terms publicly known:

1. Slavery shall be abolished, now and forever on. Former slaves shall be freed, given land to build homes on and will be treated as true citizens. Those who were not Elves will be able to return where they belong to.

2. A Charter of Rights shall be enacted, guaranteeing the basic rights for every citizen. No more shall citizens perish in the darkness, persecuted, trialed and judged by the same man, without anyone knowing, just because they disagreed with eternal winter in their kingdom.

3. Internal organization of the kingdom shall be revised, with lords found guilty for torture, embezzlement, abuse of authorities and corruption punished, and their authorities will be reduced, with more power in the hands of the Palace.

4. Guardians of Secrets shall be established. They will take care of internal corruption, internal security and will also supervise all espionage and assassination actions, to keep Dark Elves from abusing them

5. The Old Ways shall be restored. All elves shall be united in their Religion and in one Kingdom, but where no court will dominate. Eternal Winter is long gone, and there is no reason not to return to the Old Ways, except for apparent corruption of Winter Court.
Two court shall rule in harmony, taking their turns as seasons change. Both will be in charge of foreign and internal policy, exact details to be determined. A plebiscite shall be held to decide shall Vicony dynasty return or shall Tyrs dynasty rule the Winter court. The Assembly of Elvenkind shall be established, to represent priesthood, merchants and commoners in the palace, with the power to propose or veto laws.

Signed, Queen Lydia of the Summer Court

In regards to the peace terms provided by Lydia Valary,
From the offices of Minister Tevfik Turhril of Amurite foreign affairs,

We are pleased to note the tone of reconcilliation taken by Lydia of the summer court in her recent proposal. We hope that both she and Queen Vyra can continue this process of reconcilliation by finding a mutually satisfactory compromise. Ultimately, only through dialogue and negotiation can this potentially destructive affair be resolved to the liking of all elven people.

The amurites also recognize that this affair is a uniquely elven one; it is best left to elves to decide.

So, is Lydia Valary dead or not? And who was assassinated then? My head hurts....

First General Nicholas Cassel

While I respect you advice it's not what freedom of religion means. And we Kuriotates hold our freedoms sacred. A one man religion isn't reason for sentence, less the sentence of death. But be assured that anyone find gulty of kidnap, murder, rape, or treason will be sentenced firmly and fairly. And pacting with daemons isn't extenuating circumstance in eyes of our judges.
