Fall From Heaven NES

I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow so i won't be as active as i have been previously. I am submitting my orders today but if something crazy happens (like someone delcares war on the amurites or something), please feel free to NPC me so that 'we' can react to the problem appropriately.

Anyway, i'll check in on the thread every now and again i hope.

First General Nicholas Cassel

While I respect you advice it's not what freedom of religion means. And we Kuriotates hold our freedoms sacred. A one man religion isn't reason for sentence, less the sentence of death. But be assured that anyone find gulty of kidnap, murder, rape, or treason will be sentenced firmly and fairly. And pacting with daemons isn't extenuating circumstance in eyes of our judges.

Cardith Lorda, Emperor of Kuriotates

TO Cardith Lorda:

We are pleased with your response and sincerely hope that you will not need to face kidnap, murder, rape, or treason.

One could ask oneself the following question:
If i know there is a man-eating tiger in my house, is it best to act against the tiger only once it has killed and eaten my children or is it better to get rid of the tiger before it can cause this sort of destruction?

Ultimately, the choice is a Kuriotates one and we do not wish to influence your domestic policy.

TO cultists

In the Amurite house, we kill man-eating tigers.

(OOC: In the Calabim House we chuck the tiger in a pit and rape it repeatedly, but lets not get into fine details .)

Smart. :p

Also, could you send me general plan for your civ while you are absent?

Friday night. Update will probably be in Sunday, though.

IIRC I have final orders from Bals, Amurites, Svart, Khazad, Grigori

@ Algeroth - I'll be at home this evening so send me mail and I'll log on msn

Maros Otendain was the first to find gold in the stream. He was one of a few gold-seekers operating freely in the mountains northwest of Hallowell:
Spoiler :

Maros Otendain said:
Since I fell in the tunnel, I haven't been able to dig as well as I used to. But I couldn't stop worshipping Kilmorph, I couldn't stop looking for the riches she brings us. As I wept because I thought I would no longer be able to do my beloved job, I got myself drunk in the city and fell asleep. In my sleep, I had a dream, in which Kilmorph wept as I did.
So the next day, I wondered what this ment. I moved around the hills till I found a stream falling down from a chasm. It reminded me of Kilmorph's tears in the dream, so I settled there and started looking for hte goddess's treasures in her shining tears. That's how I came upon the gold.
I know some have found more than I, but I don't care. What matters is that Kilmorph let me find some gold again, she was good to me and I will worship her more than ever to thank her for her generosity.

When he started bringing lots of gold to the village, other dwarves were intrigued. What did old Maros find? Many dwarves imitated him and started seeking gold in the stream, and in other affluents of the Khaz. They brought back lots of gold, but the industrious Iamus Karbhen thought there must be even more if they could only look for it with a method.

Spoiler :

Iamus Karbhen said:
I have always been a miner. The Karbhen clan has always been renowned for its skills at tunnelling, and the flair at finding lodes rich and easy to extract. I couldn't believe that gold would be found in rivers and not under the earth. It had to come from the earth. Gold, gems all come from Kilmorph, so I decided to mine the hills above the river.
We all know that water saps rocks and tear pebbles and erodes stone. I was certain it was doing the same with Maros's gold. I just had to look for the river from above, and dig till I could excavate it better than the stream. I mean, sure, streams can carve valleys, but it takes them centuries. A good pick axe can get you there much faster.

So Iamus was the first to dig uphill and extract vast amounts of quartz and gold. He was soon joined by other gold-seekers.

At first there was some concern that fights over the ore would happen, but this was not to be. Dwarves started digging around Iamus's mine, and they soon discovered there was a large, big lode of golden ore mixed with quartz. It was several miles wide, and hhundreds of milles long, extending beneath the mountains all across the country. Miners in Hallowell and Khazad dug their tunnels towards the mother lode, and started extracting ores far richer than what they used to.

People in Riylod were jealous that such a fortune would bless the other cities but not theirs. While most of them grumbled in despair, a young dwarf, Gimli Riylin, charted the various rivers and streams around the city. He then ordered his miners to excavate in a few chosen directions, discovered precious ore and became the richest dwarf in Riylod in a matter of weeks:
Spoiler :

Gimli Riylin said:
Iamus was a visionary. Most people in Riylod thought the mother lode was a boon for Hallowell and Khazak dwarves only. They just hadn't understood that they were not looking at what really mattered. It's not the mother lode. It's how you look for ore. Not what. How.
All those old dwarves with their grey beards kept mumbling "how lucky they are in Hallowell". That's not how you make money. They were stuck in their old ways of thinking, and it was time for a younger mind to devise new ways of doing business.
While they were just mumbling, I charted the rivers, checked where they flowed from and which waters held most minerals. I then quietly bought the rights to dig the areas that looked most promising and, surprise! I was right and found all the best places.
Now I've bought back Grimmen Thorfin's company and I have more miners under my orders than anyone else in Riylod.

As per my latest PM, count the Lanun as having final orders as well.

(edit: the Lanun don't care too much about tigers, we're dog people. Anyone catch the subtle reference to Pirates of the Caribbean? Anyone?)

We (Grigori) are disgusted by your behavior to tigers! Tiger don't eat you just for fun, they kill you because they are hungry or they feel unsafe. They don't rape you(if they aren't trained by Calabim). You humiliate them, but they are better than you.

Shame on you prayers of false gods and tiger-rapers!

:D

Is that playable civ or NPC-forced?
(No I don't want to change civ, I'm just asking.)

btw, Hippus can export horses ... (:

Jopa, you got my orders via email, right? I just want to make sure, since I may not be able to get at the Internets tomorrow.

Oh, and my PM about "Happy Time Fun Days". There's no hurry on that, but I know you get a lot of PM's and just want to check that it didn't get lost in the void.

I got it, I'll start processing orders tomorrow so we will have update at Sunday.

An explanation I sent to one player:

Between the Summer Court and Calabim are scarcely populated forests, that were inhabited mainly by the most primitive human tribes, refugees and bandits from Calabim lands, and wild Elves that were not reached by the restored civilization. There were also some wild, but intelligent creatures like Satyrs. Through time, more and more Elves arrived, especially those running away from Winter court, and they generally fared better in the forest life, an eventually humans became minority. Those lands will most probably join the Summer Court, as their armies are already spreading their agenda there.

My bet is some type of super statue.
