Shazaak Confederacy

Shazaak Confederacy is a rather loose alliance of humans that inhabited Grigori province of Shazaak, and native Orcs that settled it before them. Emerged as a result of a rebellion, the only thing that united those two, previously tense groups was resentment against Grigori government and their foolish policies, and their love for Shazaak city and peninsula.

Humans that inhabited province were mainly Grigori, dominated by their language and customs, and above all, agnosticism, and Orc were largely influenced by this culture, through the work of Salvationists, and abandoned their wild ways and worship of fallen Bhall.

Shazaak people are highly patriotic. They do not put the value so much on nation and tradition as they do on local customs and well of the city and community. They almost developed distinct culture, full of songs that value beauty of local sea and mountains, local myths and heroes. Shazaak people want well for their families and honor for their ancestors. Long as these cultural values are held, this unnatural alliance can survive.

Some of the Orcs are new immigrants from much more vile areas from south. They haven't renounced Bhall yet and they are much different from their Shazaak cousins. They do not like humans at all and have different plans for Shazaak...

Krakk Tank

The Warlord Krakk Tank of the Burning Stone Clan Strode into the Council of the Warchiefs in the Town hall of the City of Shazaak. Beside him stood two immense orcs. Tattoed on thier bodies was their mark of fealty to the Burning Stone Clan.

Krakk glared at the warlords and councilors, his lips curling into a contemptuous snarl over his tusks.

"I am Krakk Tank, Lord of all I survey. I am a descendant of the Warchief Orthus, and bearer of his axe. The Burning Ston Clan Is the power in the south. We remember when the Ground and the Hell People came out. We cut them down, We stopped their exodus from the Lord of Despair. How Dare you Summon me as if i were but your vassal??

Lord Vertin, High Councilor answered this brutal attack "Lord Krakk Tank. We requested your presence exactly because you are the most powerful of the Warlords of the south. We offer you, in exchange for the loyalty of the southern tribes, which of course the Strength of the Burning Stone Clan can enforce, a seat on this council, with the full voice of a member of this council."

Krakk Tank looked around "Full and equal treatment with the high lords of the council? You, as a human, would allow such a "monstrosity"?

"Don't be a fool. Look about you. Half of these Lords are orcs or halforcs. And they all have as muc a voice as I do. I am but the spokesman."

Krakk Tank's smile faded. He looked suspiciously about, at the assembled Lords. Vertin had spoken true: over half of the faces had either a greenish tint or full fledged orcish features, tusks and all.

"And if i accept, you'll allow us to keep the religion and ways of our forfathers? the Hunt? the kill for the Coming of age? the Worship of the Fire Mistress?"

"the Shazaak Confederacy does not limit it's people's traditions in any way. All worships are accepted, In a way the Grigori could never have admitted. it is true that many of us beleive that worship is a false mistress, but each is free to do as he will."

"Then, As War lord of the South, I accept a Seat on the High Council. I will repair to my quarters now, to think on this."

After Krakk Tank had left, lord Vertin smiled at the others, who smiled back at him. "one by one, they will join us as this Son of Orthus did."

Good story Orange,

one quick note:

The Amurites held no particular love for the Hippus, and less so since this Patrian uproar began. The Amurites had even less love for Hippus in the service of the Lanun (in fact, they held something more like hatred for those in that situation). Hybor knew this as well as anyone, but circumstances forced him towards the one place on Erebus he least wanted to go.

This simply isn't accurate. the Amurites and the Hippus have long been friends and partners. And we would never hate them. Your attempts at painting us as such is fine for stories involving your own Lanun characters but we don’t appreciate it when you make our allies and friends suddenly look like they hate or fear us. The Hippus and Amurites have long been, and will continue to be, friends.

I know that when you basically take the Hippus over with your little political game that won't be true anymore (since you will make them hate us), but when they were strong and independent they liked us plenty.

immac.

I never said they hated you or even disliked you, I just implied that neither side particularly liked each other either. Which, after the last few turns, is quite possible - Arcane Lacuna hurt everyone, and the Patrian thing (whatever your true intentions may have been) is creating a civil war for the Hippus. Besides, the relations that exist between two countries may not relate to how those peoples like each other. To me, the Hippus and the Lanun people have a lot more similarities than the Hippus and Amurites, and would probably get along better if they were out drinking or something.

You can't expect me to believe that the common Amurite hasn't started to dislike the Lanun in general. Both sides have their own unique spin on recent events, and yours paints my people in an almost criminal light. The truthfulness of that portrayal notwithstanding, anyone related to the Lanun will get some of that as well, and the Hippus are my closest allies.

And I'm not "taking the Hippus over". I'm simply putting the proper person on the throne, according to the Hippus's own laws. What is there to complain about that?

No complaints with anything you are doing- just with the potrayal you have of the Hippus as not being friends of the Amurites or the Amurites disliking the Hippus.

On a different note: I think you misunderstand the origins of the New Patrian movement; you seem to think i am involved. this is not accurate.

On a second, different note:
New trade routes allocations:
Luchuirp, Calabim, Calabim, Balseraph, Khazad.

Awwww.... we're not trading anymore? Bummer. Well, that's your escalation, not mine.

My trade routes: Sidha, Calabim, Shazaak, Hippus

[yeah, that says Shazaak]

Oh, and I know full well that some of this wasn't your intention. Note:
...and the Patrian thing (whatever your true intentions may have been) is creating...

I just don't care, because it's still your fault and responsilbility. Ditto to Arcan Lacuna, which was a global inconvenience, even if you really only wanted to affect the Calabim.

The Shazaak High Council of Warlords addresses all the people of Erebus.

We are a proud and free land. Equality riegns freely, and all are accepted. We offer political sanctuary to all escaping strife and oppression.
Be they in escape from the Civil wars, Fleeing the Patrian Movement, escaping the Calabim Oppressors, or avoiding Amurite purges, all will be accepted as Citizens of Shazaak, free and equal to usetheir talents and abilites for the common good.

I can only confirm that Immac had no influence on Patria (except maybe not cracking down on Mithril Guard as a precaution, but it is not his bad)

Orcs from R'Rgorac are not very likely to ever live in harmony with Humans who they find treacherous and vile. In their minds, humans are symbol of devastation and threat. Imagine seeing an undead or orc - that's a human for R'Rgorac orc.

If they are to consider joining weakling Shazaak kin, they'd need GREAT payment (250 gold)

But if they are relocated to the Orcish territoires of the south, then they will be slowly acclimitized to the idea of equality with humans.

The Burning Stone Clan argues that point of "weaklings." They fought the Hell Fleerers and drove them back to down to hell, those that had been forged into an army of power under the Archangel of Junil, forged to defeat the demons that oppressed them. And the Burning Stone Clan Defeated them. The Burning Stone Clan descend from the Warlord Orthus. Any Burning Stone Clan Champion will fight and beat any R'Rgorac who dares to take them on in single or group combat.

Then how were they convcinced to leave their ancestral homelands, put all their trust in the Lanun sailors and agree to exile?

Then how were they convcinced to leave their ancestral homelands, put all their trust in the Lanun sailors and agree to exile?
Well, two thirds of their lands had been taken by the Balseraphs and the remainder by the Khazad. They had to choose between getting slaughtered by numerically superior and better trained forces or board ships. Even some men sign pacts with the devils.

Because they were starving under siege, and Lanun appeared giving them gold and food for the trip, and this was the only opportunity to fight and win instead of fight and certainly lose.

You must also understand that they never really knew or know the size and might of Amurites.

Hey - we're trustworthy! They got where they wanted to do, didn't they? Karimir's never broken a promise. Some people just don't recognize if they've made one, or when a previous agreement was fulfilled.

And did anyone else notice how LDiCesare and Jopa answered Immac within a minute of each other and with almost the same exact words?

To the Council of Warlords

Representatives of the nation of Shazaak will watch their tongues when addressing, or speaking of, the Mighty Calabim Nation, the practises of the Mighty Calabim Nation, the leader of the Mighty Calabim Nation, or any other matter relating to the Mighty Calabim Nation.

The Calabim Nation (which, in case you haven't noticed, is Mighty), oppresses no man, woman or child. Slavery is a practise recognised as acceptable by most nations of the world, and most criminals would happily choose slavery instead of the alternative, demotion to Kraltavoi status.

The Barbaric horde of Shazaak should also note that the Mighty Calabim Nation is undergoing a democratic movement, to create a Council of Man subservient to the Council of Nobles.

Sincerely,

King Agron the Successor
The Council of Nobles

So, the big question in all this madness is:

Are Hawkwood and Deon joining? I sure hope so. Some pretty good civs are still available boys; better grab them up and throw the diplomatic landscape into turmoil.

i.

I hope they join, it would be nice to get some new unpredictable players. Hopefully some that won't be quite as adverse to war as most of our current players, heh. Too many builders

Well, they're not going to do anything before the update, and I'm sure we'll find out then. I'm always ready to greet another vic- friendly nation. :D

Speaking of that... when is the update, Jopa? No pressure, but I'm impatient to see my amazing plans start in motion.
