That's spoiler ... note that we do have copper so not necessarily iron ... However, I do agree that without iron we would probably be doomed without Frigates and Cannons
dang -- spent all week waiting to up in my games, and now i'm up in 3!
this is 2nd on the list (out of 3 so far, maybe 4 if rotqm is up!), so i can play, prolly tonight. however, if rolo CAN get before that, post the got-it and go!
It seems Imhotep saved all the excitement for me; I got to take FIVE screenies!!
first off:
Spoiler:
A man walks out of a bar, sees a nun passing by, and swings at her. He connects, knocks the nun down, and proceeds to beat the living crap out of her: punching, kicking, biting, the whole works. After about 5 minutes, he stops, looks down at the bloody, beaten nun and says: "Not so tough NOW, are ya, Batman?"
Good news on the first IBT:
We're number 7! We're number 7! [don't hear that chant much, do you?]
We also got a event:
I went w/no thinking to avoid the revolting this early in the game; 2 turns can be crucial, no?
I started off w/the whip on the worker, overflow into the Pyramids. I sent him south to the gems, where the chop when into the 'rids later.
AFter him, I went with a workboat, and chopped it on the next turn for a pop. I figured we'd get the pop back even faster once i netted the clams, plus we'd be working the grass gems, too, in a bit, so . . .
After this, I left the build on the Pyramids, and pressed enter a bunch.
Tech wise:
into >
I stopped there as it was a nice break point. We're now haeding towards Med > Priesthood for the Oracle, but we'll probably be able to work in another forest chop before we quarry the marble, and the tech is reached. 6 or 7 turns to quarry, 5 turns for roads to get there, and Priest in ~ 18 turns.
Here's Beijing:
We might also get away w/mining those sheep before Priesthood is due.
Fox - did yo uedit this game to epic speed? Because it seems like the event should have scaled to 15 turns of 1 instead of 10... The gamble for 2 healthy may have been worth the unleahty since we're OCC but too late for that.
I seriously thought you were joking when you had the "+1 in all cities for 10 turns" highlighted. Im still hoping its a joke since you havent responded to the thread yet. The 3rd option was something like 90% chance of +3 health in all cities. That is huuuuuuuuggeeeeeeee. Plz tell us its a joke.
Next person might want to head to writing before Priesthood to get a library asap, itll be research and not production that keeps us from a CS sling.
It looks that OCC AW are extremely boring games,...... at least until we find someone to bang heads with. I beated Pholk's record and have the enormous ammout of 3 ( three ) pictures to show
Basically, I finished the road to gems and mined the sheep ( how do you mine sheeps anyway? reminds me civIII , where you could mine fish ..... )
Techwise I researched Meditation and started Prieshood. But I'll let the log that for me:
Spoiler pretty exciting log ;) :
Logging by BUG Mod 2.11 (BtS 3.13)

Worker MicroManagement suggestion
Spoiler:
Alternately we can chop+farm the grassland forest....
Research times for a CS slingshot @ current situation ( add 4 turns for Priesthood )
Spoiler:
Some thoughts
IMHO the CS slingshot seems unlikely to be done pairing with the Mids, unless we chop a little. Before that we are seriously limited by the hap cap and the prod will be too anemic for that ( even counting with the quarry and the boost for Oracle )... we just don't have prod for Mids + ( library ? + ) + Oracle before we get to CoL ( and before someone grabs both or one of them ). Suggestions?
Oh, and the joke
Spoiler:
Do you know exactly how many unfounded jokes about Bush do exist?
rolo - you forgot math. You need math to slingshot CS now... I think we should chop out a library with one or two of the hills and plant a mine on them. This will help both our production and research. Have any of the wonders been built yet? If not, we still have time for the oracle and wonders don't decay - we can build the oracle to one turn out and start teching to see how far we can get. I'm not used to epic game speeds so I don't know how many turns there are until 1000 BC. Also, we have plenty of time for the pyramids - the oracle is going to go long before the pyramids so I'd worry more about that wonder.
Ok, I forgot math ( I'm not used to CS slingshots anymore ) ... add 27 turns @ current conditions ( checked the game just now ) and nobody made any wonder so far ( not even Henge )
The chopping of the Library seems a good idea to me as well... but IMHO we shoud do the quarry first
Since research is gonna be the slowest part, get that library asap by chopping the hills...hire 2 scientist while working commerce tiles and well have a better shot.
IMHO we should leave some chops for post Maths wonders ( like for GLib or Hanging, the SoZ ( I wonder how it works in AW )... Maybe even for the Collosus ). We should also make all the wonders we can get, even if for denial proposes ( like it was shown in DMI 4 , the AI became very handicapped if they don't have wonders... and we want destroyers vs frigates, don't we? )
