Greek communication thread

btw, i forgot to post it, but i sent the message to MIA a few hours ago.

New message from our good friends the Greeks. :) Do we have anything to say in return? Questions? Comments? Concerns?

Greeting greekguy and all citizens of TNT.

Thankyou for your proposal, a delight to read a diplomatic message that was offering something for nothing.

We of course accept and look forward to visiting your lands in due course, perhaps you could point out some lovely sites to visit :goodjob:

Although you asked for nothing, we in turn offer you the freedom of coastal sea travel for your Curragh Western Expedition. You have nothing to fear from us when sailing in our borders, ware the KISS though, we have sighted their sails near our waters.

Regarding the KISS, a shakey peace still exists between our nations.

As soon as you can inform us of the completion of Engineering please let us know.

Fare Thee Well in Peace.

Feaurius III
Foreign Minister MIA

Send a reply basically thanking them for free access for our curragh etc.

Here's my proposed reply. Post what you think of it.

Dear MIA,

My people are extremely grateful that you are allowing our Western Curragh access to your waters. This will greatly aid our expedition's goal of piecing together an accurate world map. We also will be on the lookout for KISS vessels, as per your warning.

Also, your warrior will surely see great things on his journey through our lands, although the Sacred Jungle is a bit bland. When you reach our civ core, however, things get more interesting, with fertile flood plains, productive grasslands, and rolling hills. Please enjoy the scenery of the TNT homeland. :)

Bye for now.

ok, i'll add that in to the message.

It would be very useful to us if you could bring back word of Iroqi land.

Bye for now.

how's this?

ok, message sent to MIA. :)

Let's tell the Greeks we'll have engineering in 13 turns. Also, we'll have a harbor in ten turns. Will we be able to trade with the Greeks then or will we need to explore the coast more? Don't think we'll need astronomy to trade since we're so close. We should find out about this since the Greeks were interested in diamonds. Of course they'll have to have a harbor, won't they? Maybe we should ask them when we should expect their warrior and from what direction he shall be arriving.

It would cost 98g to establish an embassy with the Greeks.

well based on the pics you've been showing of the Greek-Iron continent border, we should be close enough to trade once both teams have harbors. no need to wait from astronomy (as far as i know). i'll write up a response later today.

Do you know if we need to have explored or *found* a city of theirs that has a harbor? I'm wondering if our curragh should turn around and map out the coast of Greece instead of continuing north into the land of the Galls.

i honestly don't know the answer to that question.

could someone else write this message? i was busy yesterday and i don't have any time to write a reply today.

Here's the latest of Greece. That ship of their's is called the Twitching Aardvark. When I sent the save I told them we'd have engineering in eight turns but didn't say anything else.

Dear greekguy

It seems that our suspicions have been confirmed by the latest issue of the Doughnutian Gazette.

The MIA leadership would like to share some interesting information that you may not be aware of, according to the Nutter press they now have Engineering, however our analysis of the scientific environment indicates that they are not the only team in possession of this knowledge !! :wow:

Therefore by default, the only other team with the ability to build bridges would be KISS  which can only lead to the disturbing conclusion, that KISS and the Nutters have formed a strong alliance which at the very least involves them researching and swapping separate technologies.

In lieu of this we have decided to explore a little further the lands to your south. This is in no way a slight on your open invitation to tour your lands, but at this stage we feel it necessary to gain all the intelligence that we can on your neighbour. If and Meleet be praised :worship: that we can convince KISS that peace is a much better option than war, it may be a prudent option for us to send another unit over to traverse the TNT lands. Strategically, we feel it a wiser use of resources to grab the opportunity to keep the original traveller way down south.

Now that their 'secret' Nut KISSing alliance has been broadcast to the world, we feel that we should talk at length about options where by we may together counter this threat ... I would like to chat on AIM (fe3333au) at your earliest convenience.

We would also like to congratulate TNT on being the first to secure the silk luxury, a pity that you did not gain control of 3 as you would then have created a silk monopoly, and the Nuts would still have been able to control one to ease any tension.

We will have the knowledge of Chivalry soon and will trade it for Engineering when you have completed it ... however if you are threatened prior to this date, be secure in the knowledge that MIA will send it to you post haste.

MIA feel that it may be wise to discuss a strategy where both teams are aware of each others research paths and beaker rate, expansion plans and are able to offer support if needed.

I await your response and hopefully a mutual time where we can discuss at length ideas to counter the recent developments.

Regards

Feaurius III
MIA Foreign Minister

btw ... to save on pigeon post, could you send all replies just to me and to the MIA g-mail box :D

Time to write to Greece. I wonder how KISS and the Nuts got engineering so fast?

Here's my proposed reply. Please post what you think of it.

Dear MIA,

We were also dismayed to find out that both D'Nuts and the Galls discoverd Engineering before either of our two brillant teams did. It looks like we will have to kick our Scientific traits into high gear! My people will do our best to research quickly, especially now that we are out of Anarchy. Also, we understand that circumstances have changed and your roaming warrior needs to scout out Iroqi land. Just remember that the gates to the cities of Iron will always be open for your people. :)

Now, about your suggestion about developing a long term inter-team Science strategy, we will do our best to contribute. My people will discuss what our priorites are concerning technology and inform you of our beaker costs for the future. If our two teams stick with each other and exchange info and techs constantly, we will quickly advance through the tech tree and surpass the unsophisticated Iroqi and foolhardy Galls in scientific achievement.

To the Great Meelet, who blessed the Greek and Ironic people with larger minds than the inept Iroqi and Galls. Together we will rule the world!
