How is your EU3 Game going?

My Byzantine game... annexed territory in Africa and the Caribbean (two islands St. Lucien) from Naples and simply built improvements in territories that were cored.

Jumped on England when it fell apart and stole their territory in north Africa, England is now Great Britain and continues to fall apart being overrun by Cornwall, Munster, Gaelic Highlanders and rebels. England used to have the largest overseas empire in the world, rebels saw to the end of that. Iberia now takes the top spot barely, as Aragon is right behind them followed by my ally Burgundy and myself taking 4th. The colonial race is close between the 4 of us since England fell.

Austria still expands, but north instead of east into my ally Lithuania. They now fear my huge armies stationed on my northern border in Greece, both armies outnumber their local forces and I am 3 land tech levels ahead of them. A war with them has been planned for the future. Right now my most pressing concern is the final conquest of Naples and then Rome. Once I get northern Italy secured and open up a larger second Italian front against Austria I may start my war against them. Burgundy may join if they do not I will have several large armies ready in case they backstab me. Sea invasions against me are rare and when they happen are lucky strikes... my large navy, the largest in the world (according to the ledger) keeps my supply lines open and trade flowing smoothly.

Currently my goal is to reduce Lithuania's presence in Asia minor... by either forcing them to release Georgia or annexing them myself. I plan to destroy Algiers (I don't know their name but it used to be called Algiers) and Morocco to unite my colonies with the mainland, and take the Mamluks to the woodshed for their complete lack of respect and for refusing to show the proper amount of fear for my large and invincible armies. The continuously declare war whenever I get involved in a large war especially if I go overseas. But they are always stopped by a small 17,000 strong army in Alexandria.

Spoiler :

EDIT: My legitimacy has been bad ever since I Westernized. I have tried recovering it as heir's become leaders but events always seemed to bring it back down. But I am still working on bringing it back up.

what's with that Austria? usually as Byz they are really powerful, but never that giga-blob we see here

We all are used to see Castille gangbanged sometimes by their neighbours, but solid Castille getting raped by Portugal that early?

I meant you will get more female monarchs, so you won't be able to convert them to generals for free. :)
I actually like it better this way, because emperor-generals can die irritatingly early. I usually don't even make the monarch a general unless I have zero cash and am in serious need of somebody to take over an army. This basically never happens after 1430 or so in a Byzantine game, and Manouel II suffices before that.

Im guessing that's a France game.

I started as the Dutch exactly 30 years after the 30 Year's War start, and have built up quite the empire, in terms of both land and money:

tomas5.jpg

I also have most of Brazil, a few Caribbean islands and Zanzibar. Currently, there are over 200 ducats flowing into the treasury each month, most of which is trade income. Also, I'm ridiculously advanced in technology: I'm 27 years ahead in Land tech, 29 years ahead in Production tech, 35 years ahead in Government tech, 47 years ahead in Naval tech and 157 years () ahead in Trade tech!

So my Byzantium game is going pretty well! The wealth from America funds my massive army and the numerous wars that gained me the ability to re-establish the theme system. In this process, I attacked Venice, Milan, Austria and Castille, emboldening me further with my technologically advanced army 20 levels above my neighbors. Apparently this scared every European country into forming the Holy Roman Empire. As you can see, it's not doing so well. While they have more soldiers than I have in Europe, rebellions are sprouting all over their empire so I'm biding my time and building my European army for a full blow push into Europe and maybe reclaim the Roman Empire in the process!

North America is doing pretty well too. I think I'll have to conquer Mexico and the rest of Castilles provinces on the west coast

byzantium1805-1.jpg

Asia is pretty so-so now. Conquered the Bihir center of trade and colonized that island north of Japan.

The Imperial-Byzantine World War isn't going to be pretty in the slightest!

"Byzantine Europe" plastered over Byzantium proper. You're a heretic and a traitor to your people!

You should help the HRE, the AI is just way too dumb to not survive the formation!

@SRI - The AI in SRI sucks at colonizing... :(

I'm thinking of forming the HRE for the first time in my Champagne game, then trying to recreate Charlemagne empire! should i try it? :D

and as Burgundy of course, Lotharingia!

So my France game is progressing well. (still my third ever)

I conquered Brittany, Provence, and the province of Savoy. Then Burgundy managed to get themselves involved in another war. My plan was to wait until their army was all off in Central Europe and only about 1/3 strength, but the Swiss messed up my plans and forced me into the war when their 69000 strong force was only about 64k, and I only had 60k to show for myself. Fortunately, they sent about 13k into Switzerland, which the Swiss took care of as only the Swiss can, and about 20k were off in Europe. I managed a couple tactical victories that destroyed the forces they had in Burgundy, and eventually occupied their lands. I got all their non HRE territory in the peace, which was all my cores +1 territory. (Nevers cored through event)

I've carried Byzantium into the future! I've made her from a small, pathetic collection of islands to the greatest, wealthiest and most powerful empire the world has ever seen! I AM Byzantium!

If it weren't for the fact it's an administrative republic, I'd have your head cut off your your insolence!

Justinian would roll in his grave. :)

Search for my first DW games in this thread ;) your speech remembers me of how i felt like when playing this game
one more thing : republics suck, especially as ROME! you're a heretic for becoming a republic.

EDIT : http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=10404061&postcount=1362
i also have another game as Rome in D&T that i really enjoyed and had i continued (i didn't made a save backup after updating D&T) i could easily roll over France and Spain

[jokingmode]
so i hope i can compete against your claim of "I AM BYZ" :p especially considering it should be "I AM ROME"

Again, what do you mean with that? just because it's a republic you can't cut his head? you need to know moar about recent history and how some monarchies were much MORE DEMOCRATIC than other republics (ever heard of republican dictatorship and that kind of thing? :p)
