ITNES I - An Epoch of Change

andis, if you did so order, you violated a term of the Treaty of Juvavum...;)

Great Update das. Did Huancac agents make contact with Carthage as I directed?

To: The Mother Church in Gaul
From: Her Daughter Church in Iceni

Caledonia has allied [OCC: As Das said, not really, but it is perceived that way] itself with the godless enemy of the Church who continually blasphemes the name of Sol. In addition, they harbored and supported a confessed killer of the most blessed Bishop of Cymru, Lucius. If this is not enough, they have the brazeness to declare the Iceni church heretics, even though we have followed the Mother Church in everything she asks. We ask that you remind your children in Caledonia that the Iceni church is your faithful child and rebuke Caledonia for its actions.

To: Gaul
From: Iceni

You see that Caledonia has betrayed us and formed an alliance with our common enemy. Though we do not ask for solders, for we know that you yourselves are fighting for the glory of Sol in the south and our enemies rule the seas between us, we do ask that you remember your defensive alliance you had with us, and condemn the actions of Caledonia and do what you may to help us.

@das, some quick questions...

1. What happened to my colony expedition in South Africa?
2. What happened to my alliance proposal to Khoisan? Wouldn't it have been taken to the strongest warlord instead since Khoisan crumbled?
3. Are any of the Khoisan remnants pro-Ayavartan at any level?
4. Did you forget to place my armies in Africa and Arabia?
5. How big an impact is religion in Ayavarta on a scale of 1-10, 10 being a high level?

A MOST RIGHTEOUS CRUSADE
A DECLARATION TO THE NOBLE COUNCILS OF GAUL

We have triumphed. In our darkest hour, we have triumphed. Carthage, once the world's mightiest Empire, has tried, in vain, to destroy the glory that is Gaul. Our armies, the greatest this world has ever seen, have thwarted their attempts - we have paid a price for this, yes - Kemper now is but a ruined heap of rubble - but the price paid pales in comparison to the price that would have been paid had we not been victorious, had we not decided that no more would the peoples of Gaul, the children of the Sun be threatened and bullied by the child-eating tyrant in Carthage. They, thinking we would not rouse ourselves to the defense of our allies, attacked a fellow nation of the Sun, and in doing so threatened us - for had we not risen up, Gaul would be the next target of their tyranny and oppression. Through holy providence we were shown the light - the light of forsight, and through such light we met the ships of Carthage with the steel of Gaul - and ultimately, it was steel which prevailed. In our first and greatest trial, we have been victorious.

However, this is only the first of many such trials, and still we must perservere. Still we must fight. We must fight unto the end of Europe, unto the ends of Transpoenia. Carthage has been weakened, yes, but she still remains alive. Her capital has been ignomiously burnt to the ground, a reprisal for her most villanous crimes against our forefathers and the forefathers of our brothers of the Sun, the peoples of Cimberland. The sack of Rome has been avenged, and now the immense power of Sol Invictus will be brought upon the Tyranny of Carthage. Never a force greater than ours has been summoned. They may have a long history of dominance, but we have behind and above us the most glorious Sun - that which shall outshine all. And with this light and everlasting fire, we shall accomplish the task at hand - the task of further and completely avenging the spirit of Sol and the spirit of Rome.

Such a task, however, will not be a simple matter. But, having repulsed the foriegn invaders, we are confident in our might and in our divine guidance. Yet divine guidance shall not win this war - what shall win this war is the toil of Gaul, the strength of her armies, and for that we must all stand together and declare in one voice that we shall not be opposed and that no more shall a tyranny in Africa attempt to dictate to us what should and should not be done. The Sun, not some Child-eating Emperor, is the master of our destiny, and unto him only shall we prostrate ourselves. The Emperor of Carthage wishes to stick to us his hand to kiss, and with our steel we shall cut that hand from him. And so thus the Sun shall smite all who challanges its everlasting and divine light.

And we, the agents of his providence, the harbringers of righteousness and faith, shall trample upon the land of the heathen, and shall bring over worlds encompassed in darkness a light brighter than ever seen before. We shall not only bring our holy faith, but we shall bring civilization. We have been entrusted with the salvation of man, and in this task, we must not fail. If we fail, our holy light, our beacon in a sea of darkness, will forever be obscured.

Rise, children of the Sun, descendents of Rome! Rise and take back what is rightfully yours. Spread the message of divine providence, and with it, the message of Civilization. We march under the banner of an ever-shining light. We march under the banner of victory.

Carthago, Delenda Est.

Hey, IP, sorry to spoil all of this, but if you want a response to that PM could you clear your box? ;)

Awesome update, for once everything went as I planned :)

Glad to see you continuing, Panda.

...I don't remember agreeing to any trade pact with Phoenica in my orders. Not that I wouldn't have of course, but tossi only contact me fater my orders were sent, still somewhat worrying ;).

@Azale: get the hell out of south west africa, your being silly if you think you can hold onto a desert with the entire Dukunnugeyan kingdom between you and it. Go somewhere else, despite what NK says you have many expansion directions that won't result in Dukunnugeya kicking your arse back north of the equator :D.

Edit: IC Version
To the noble but foolhardy rulers of Ayravarta, navel of the world; we beg askence of you as to your current and future plans towards the dry and desolate west coast of the great southern continent. It is not suitiable for development under its own merits, so we assume your intention is either trade or war, either of which will be unfriendly to our own interests in the region. We request that you immediately cease all such operations and relocate your focus elsewhere. If you ignore us we will have no recourse but to take action, and it will not be a conflict you can win. So spare your future widows their grief and do not presume to dictate to us who broke free from you centuries ago, and indeed were never conquered by the old Kalinga empire in the first place.

Do not fail to recognize your position of power...we have let you live to this point, but you are still nothing more than rebellious underlings. If we have somehow offended you by trying to break the little trade monopoly you have been organizing against our Empire, then that is your issue. The "nation" of Dukennugeya will not dictate the foriegn policy of Aryavarta, you are in our sphere of influence...never forget that.

OOC: That was OOC azale, and make dis POST THE UPDATE

The Siege of Tlictato

Day 1

The Crown Prince walks up and down the walls, as the last fleeing refugees from outlying farms and villages seek out the safty of the walled city. Tales of Rape and Pillage swarm around them, Infesting the City with a feeling of unity against these barbarous Rebels. The sky fell to darkness and wall of Flesh and Metal descended around the city.

"You have heard tales of the rape and pillage of our peoples by those we once thought the same. They accuse me of not allowing them to defeat the Carthaginians, I do not know the ways of war as these Fuedal Lords did, indeed I approached them over the matter, due to my revelation. They saw fit to tell me that they could defeat this new foe. But they were mistaken, and our people slaughtered. I preached Wisdom, and I ended the war, better as it is to lose your sight, than to lose your head. They disagree, seeing it as a sign of weakeness, rather than the strength that it is. Thus they rejected my Wisdom, and the Wisdom of God. They have degenerated to little more than Toltecs, they shall be purged,"
-30th Crown Prince to the Peoples of Tlictato

Day 3

Arrows Flow like rain at the walls, the tide turning this way and that as the City's defenders reply. Bronze mixed with Obsidion arrows, a green refracted sunbeam, lights up the Crown Prince, and then is gone. Three of the Four City gates have been blocked up with rubble from empty houses, the Pandemic having provided ample spare masonary. Lord Tzapatjama had made some probing assualts on the walls, followed by a quick assualt The defenders had thrown back this assualt with ease, Lord Tzapatjama chance of an easy, quick victory vanished.

"This War has me treading the Path of the Destroyer, My position of Crown Prince has me treading the Path of the Seer. I must guide my peoples through the arrows and stones that fall upon us, and the webs that stand between a man and God. It must be noted that the men around me have stood their entire lives, motionless. Their arrogance of being a pure Olmecian has sucked them of the vigour and creativity of some of the newer citizens of Olmecia. I must take up the path of the destroyer, and declare war not only, upon myself, but also, upon the people around me, and in the fires of war they shall be re-forged. And then I shall guide them, to their final resting place."
-30th Crown Prince, War-Seer.

Day 8

Some of the larger Catapults have finished, both sides have no began hurling good sized rocks at each other. Men fall, brained, only to be replaced by another face, another beleiver. The Larger Catapults will be finished soon, the walls will not be able to withstand the blows of them. Help is required, or the City will fall.

"I have began forming a new army, Loyal to myself, Oaths have been made, all will be required to make an Oath not just to me, but to God. No longer will Fuedal Lords be able to garner followers that have no connection to myself. The Men are eager to please, and have begun to think creativly, the pressure of the Stones now falling from above has made them bond, and think of ways to defend ourselves, they realise that the final assualt shall begin in a matter of days, though they do not know it yet, re-inforcements will be arriving soon. I saw the signal-fires with my own eyes. It is almost a race, Will Lord Tzapatjama breach the city prior to the reinforcments, or will he be assualted from two sides? Or will he make a fatal error and attempt to capture the city when the reinforcements arrive, thus opening him up to a fatal counter-attack? Regardless, the core of my own followers have begun to reason that ability without wisdom is useless, I have told them that God is testing us, and The Chosen Shall survive,"
-30th Crown Prince, Meeting of The Chosen

Day 9

One of the larger catapults was completed today, well, sort of. It managed to throw a boulder the size of a small house, crushed a building with wounded in it. Unfortunatly the Catapult also destoyed itself, not being constructed properly the stress' involved tore itself apart, an Engineer managed to have himself flung against the wall, his entrails decorate it. You could almost hear Lord Tzapatjama screaming with rage.

"One can feel the tension in the air, Lord Tzapatjama men realise that their is little hope of them turning back now, so they whip the levies up describing the wealth of the city. Barbaric, but they realise that their Oath Ties to Lord Tzapatjama bind their fate to his. The levies have been misguided, they may be able to return, but their suffering will be many-fold, for they must learn through the helplessness, and frustration. When one sees the light, it shall catch like wildfire, but until then, they die. It is unfortuntate that behind us both is dead ground, we cannot help but continue down the Path of the Destroyer,"
- 30th Crown Prince, On Salvation

Day 12

The Sky had begun to rain house sized boulders, and Lord Tzapatjama had begun his final assualt when The Coronoprincipal reinforcements arrived just in time, breaking Lord Tzapatjama's momentum. Lord Tzapatjama retreated, leaving a large portion of his army to be slaughtered.

"And Gods Chosen Shall prevail"
- 30th Crown Prince

Day 25

Lord Tzapatjama counter-attacked from his retreating march, this suprised many, and left many of the older Commanders being overly cautious. This time delay let Lord Tzapatjama secure a good defensive position, the Conflict here reminded everyone that war was far from won. We did however manage to make his position unteneable, so he has again retreated searching for a better positon, we have had to stop, to lick our wounds for a bit.

"My infulence continues to extend, I have managed the army well, and promoted those who I deemed of the correct aptitude, faith and Loyalty. As I have done with the lands, I have encouraged those with creativity to come forth. If I must whip up a hurricane to stir these sturgid stagnent waters then so be it"
"I have managed to seek a suitable aid from the Punics, it would serve us well to remeber how I took my path,"
-30th Crown Prince, Post Bonampak

OOC: I have made certain assumptions on the future I think :p

To the Holy and Universal Church in Gaul (CC: Gaul):
From Caledonia:

If we have shed the blood of the Iceni, it is in your service and the service of the Invincible Sun. The King of Icenia and his clergymen claim to be Solists in holy communion with Aurelaeni, but they are in truth heretics, enemies of the true Church who blaspheme the will of Sol for the furtherance of their own earthly ambitions. Schism! That is the aim of the King of Icenia, and of every blaspheming, unholy, deceitful priest of his false Church. They care not for the universal Church; they hate its unity, strive with every breath to undermine its unity. They seek to split the faithful of Alba away from their brothers in Gaul, and lead them astray, and lead them into the darkness of heresy, and in the darkness devour their souls and destroy them! The High King of Caledonia is a faithful protector of the Holy and Universal Church, and a sworn servant of the Lord Pontiff, Sol bless His Eminence; the High King of Caledonia does not pretend to equal dignity with the Lord Pontiff, does not blaspheme against Sol and declare national churches when it is ordained that the holy Church of Sol is one, universal, and indivisible. My lords, Caledonia fights to defend the sanctity and purity of the Church in Alba -- in Alba, by Sol's blessing, not of Alba -- and to promote the righteous orthodoxy of Aurelaeni in Caer Bechet, that darkest den of heresy and unholy conspiracy. As Sol shines His light upon you, and enlightens the wise mind of the Lord Pontiff and the other holy men of the Church, we pray you, see that we wage war in Sol's name, for your benefit, against enemies more insidious, more dangerous, and more hateful to Sol even than the unbelievers of distant countries. Sol's blessing upon you; may He shine His Light upon Gaul, and defend her from evil.

To Icenia:
From Caledonia:

Repent, heretics, and Sol might yet pardon you on the day of judgement! He, in His magnificent benevolence, may forgive you, though I assure you the armies of Caledonia will not. Never again will heresy on the order of a schismatic national church be suffered to take root in the hallowed soil of Alba. Death is what we promise as the prize for your sacrilegious treachery.

das, what do you picture my UU being like?

I think mostly infantry, with some cavalry (camelry maybe), and the attributes I described.

@Imago- Maybe you shouldn't have attacked me. You could have recovered staying within your borders with a quick civil war. Good fight nonetheless.

@IP- Didn't silver say he was taking the nation, and say he would fight you?

Very good update das!

To: Caledonia
From: The Emperor of Iceni who has been made Shepherd of the True Flock of all those who Worship Sol in Iceni by the will of the Lord-Pontiff

What the church in Iceni is, it is by the decree of the Lord-Pontiff. I myself met with the Lord-Pontiff no more than five years ago and he himself never spoke a word about me being a heretic but embraced me as a son. Tell me, who is more qualified to judge if we are wrong? The Lord-Pontiff who is over all, or you, who have only been enlightened by Sol for a mere five years and who goes a whoring with the enemies of Sol, the hated Nortugal, who blaspheme the name of Sol? But if we have sinned, why has not the Lord-Pontiff rebuked us? Does he hate our souls so much that he is willing to stand idly by without attempting to correct us? By his silence we stand justified. For if the Lord-Pontiff spoke, we would have obeyed. Therefore, if he did not correct, it is because we need no correcting. Thus you stand reproved, your darkness of lies flees before the light of our truth. So go back boy, to your mist filled hills, and pray to the Lord-Pontiff, that he interceed on your behalf. For unless the Lord-Pontiff stays my hand, I will teach you a lesson on what the Iceni do to liars and oath-breakers and who pretend to be Sons of Light but do the work of the darkness.

To: Mother Church in Gaul
From: Iceni

Dear Mother, we know that it is time to give our tithe to you as we have given our word to do. But we ask you, in your mercy, allow us to forgo it this one time, so that we may more ably defend ourselves from our enemies, who are indeed the enemies of Sol. If you do this, we promise to repay what we owe you and more besides, when we are able to. Yet, if thou commandest it, we will still give the tithe, though it mean our destruction, for we love you more than our own lives.

why did I fight with the Norge? I asked not to attack navies that are not Solist... Did they attacked me?
