Let's say this world is a test...

What would that test be?

The idea of this world being a proving ground is something that seems to transcend cultures and time, and so I wonder what your idea is concerning what the test is.

Is it an open ended question, like an essay?

Fill in the blanks? If so, did the teacher provide a word bank?

Multiple choice? Does always picking C really make for a good strategy?

Don't take any of that literally, as my question in this thread is more like the first than the last. Debate with your fellow classmates, but be respectful. I'm going to take a cigarette break.

Extra credit opportunities:

Does the test seem fair?

Did the teacher cover all the material on the test beforehand?

What are your estimated odds of passing? How sure are you of your estimate? How sure are you of the estimation of your estimate?

Using only MS Paint or similar program, illustrate how you would feel if you were to be the first human with what we would recognize as our "human capability". Interpret this as real or impressionistic as needed.

If you leave the world a bit more moral, fair, and decent than you entered it, you pass.

Well, that would require altering the relationships between people. How does one do that without assuming a position of responsibility over those relationships?

You can affect moments, yes, but those moments pass long before you're even put into the ground, unless you've changed those relationships.

Or maybe you have a different idea?

I personally think that the real evolution of this world is at a very basic level still. There are many reasons why this is so. People seem to tend to either only strive to survive (mostly those who have little means, due to their families having had little means too) or get comfortable at some non-evolving stance.
In my view a person should try to expand his self-awareness. Pessoa used to say "Every thinking person, seeing the state of the world, seeks to change it. The first step to that is changing himself: this first step will take his whole life" :)

There isn't an instruction manual. No textbooks to study, no teachers. You're on your own to figure it out.

Well, lets get to the basic facts. :D

Go and read chapter 3 of Genesis. The vast majority of people will ask themselve this sort of question and yet will not investigate the ancient texts. Closemindedness.

Doesn't it seem a little silly to be ignorant and rather than try to learn one instead seeks to generate wisdom out of the lack of knowledge.

This world isn't a test, its a trial.

1. The only basic fact is that we're alive.

2. The ancients knew this as well as we do, everything else was their best guess.

3. That doesn't even make sense. We've learned we're ignorant because we know that wisdom can't come from the lack of knowledge we were created with.

4. I refuse to believe its a trial, as I have committed no crime nor was company to any crime involving some apple tree. Not to mention, the premise of this thread is that life is a test. That is a framework you must stay in to contribute.

In the Old Testimate it's hard to separate the morals from the genocidal insanity.

Even with the New, immorality is as likely to result from the old texts as morality.

To pass this test, you need to get everything.

And I mean everything.

No one has yet passed this test.

I'm guessing Karellen is still just waiting for the Contact to show itself.

Closemindedness.

And?

If I have a religious experience I'll take it seriously. If I don't I'm not required to take second hand reports of such experiences seriously. It's pretty much that simple.

I'm also not going to dim the lights, curl up with and ancient book, and prep myself to have a psychologically induced religious experience. If the all-knowing creator of the universe wants my attention he knows where I am.

You have committed all the crimes only you have forgotten just like you have forgot that you have created this All. Now you are saying that you need to pass the test but only thing you need is only to remember your True-Self. So no test, no trial only a Game...

The test is only fair if judgement is rendered based upon human logic. To judge humans based on logic they cant even comprehend is bluntly unfair, like giving a quantum physics test to an algebra student then flunking them out of school when they fail.

I...woah.

You win :D

Got Encyclopædia, got blue chips… almost there, man.

If it is a test, imposed upon us by a higher power, then there's no reason for there to be rules or manuals. A higher power would have higher abilities - beyond intelligence - things we would not comprehend anyway. We conduct tests on bacteria, plants, lower animals - we don't tell them what we expect from them. Why should we expect to be told.
