Very very interesting LOE...

Up front, is an immortal demon-Mage ruler of a city state or a tribe of elves ruled by an eternally reincarnating elven woman an example of potential Mage-polities?

Definitely liking this.

Well uh yeah.

Change it up a bit! There don't always need to eldritch horrors lurking to consume the sanity of your people.

Thomas, last time I did that, I got tentacle raped by eldritch abominations because I wasn't vigilant.

Besides I like witch queens...

These above posts are totally PG-13.

On that note, I bet trying to understand an entrenched bureacracy is more sanity-straining than any eldritch abombination. Am studying this now, and I'm sobbing in the corner every couple of pages due to the shear insanity.

Good job, LoE. You're doing this right. Due to my nefarious influence.

Agreed. I'm not a big fantasy buff, but I'm getting the Goosebumps reading your last few posts.

Thlayli has indeed been an evil chancellor whispering in my ear. That said, I remain confident that Eltain can produce a far more satisfactory climate map than I can, and I will post the thread once we have his final product. I do not anticipate ever limiting sign-ups. What with the nature of the stats I plan to run the NES as low-maintenance as possible, while still producing interesting updates and all that jazz. Update length may very well fluctuate.

@Seon, ultimately I would greatly prefer to have players (at least in the beginning) control only mere mortals. Of course you can still play a mage of some kind and enjoy a great deal more power at the very start than four or five turns down the line.

What if the map was in the southern hemisphere and the sea in the south was the 'not-baltic'? And the north was a desert?

This is something I might consider, considering how small the amount of arable land in the south would be if the map was in the northern hemisphere. Y/N, NES forum?

No. North should be north. And I agree with North King, having a few extremely core arable regions to fight over (and lots of resource poor regions to get pushed into) is critical to the kind of scenario you're trying to create. Limited resources breeds political conflict.

Though the north of the map is basically a huge featureless wasteland, particularly the northwest, which would be conducive to some huge mountain ranges and a few frigid seas. Get Eltain to add some of that, perhaps, since I see he's still doing lakes.

I in particular am very interested in the far north, assuming it's cold. Probably due to playing too much Skyrim.

Northern hemisphere is gud for me.

North works well.

I am satisfactorily convinced that the map should be in the northern hemisphere. And now we await further additions to it :p
