Sorry for you, Kinboat.

And you can take your time. You are IMHO (and I think this opinion is shared) the best human unit creator and your units have been both great and numerous, plus often very needed and everybody eagerly awaits more but you are perfectly entitled to your free time or RL time. I definitely don't mean you should stop though :) but you have done more than your share already so nobody would really mind (even if unhappily) delays.

Sorry to hear that Marc. Commiserations to you and your family.
Hopefully we can cheer you up a little when you return :)

A very nice unit indeed. A question though, would this unit be best for just one civ or can Aztec, Inca and Maya all use it? Seems you have produced quite a few units, do you have plans to make flavor units for most civs? Do you use your imiganiation or are they based on reality? What about modern units for these civs, like tanks etc... or would that be too much fiction...?

Another thing, the guy complaining about a machinegun or something... It would actually be nice with a pre WWI/or even a WWI machinegunner. Think of the slaughterings made by the british in the zulu war... Without these guns, the british might have lost?

Anyways, this is a very cool unit. Keep up the good work!

Well I think it can cover most of the civs from Central America. I don't have plans to do them for all civs but Kal-el (who does quite a lot of the sketches I base my recent units off of) seems to want to :) I'd say they are based on both looking at actual cultural art and outfits and then throwing in a fair bit of the imagination to kick it up, but you'll have to ask Kal-el how he comes up with all his sketches.

For most of them I look at real military uniforms of the time, for others I just make them up based on the cultural identity of the unit. An example of the latter would be my Zulu Rhino Knight, and most recent Aztec Knight. Since neither civ ever utilized cavalry I had to make up what they might have looked like.

Rhino Knight? Does he rides a Rhinoceros? Do you think of more modern units aswell? But there weren't horses in Southern-Africa, if it where they might have used them too... But personally I think a Rhino is a bit to much... They can hardly see, they have a bit of "temper" too. What about making the Zulus use elephants? They "could" have tamed them, the North Africans did.

Kal-el: Have you made art for norse civilizations aswell? I think they are lacking a lots of units... And norse units could perhaps fit both the Vikings, the Dutch and the Germans.

Anyways, I guess I haven't seen all your art-work, but I remember a couple - real nice!

About the Rhino Knight, go read the Zulul sketch thread in the main creation forum (and no, it's not a real rhino ;)).

About the African Elephant, it has been said somewhere that the African type couldn't be domesticated (?). The Elephant that Carthage used weren't the actual african.

Oh, I see, that unit looked very cool. Hope someone takes time to make them all... You should have learned some 3d program yourselves - I guess with your energy you would have made them all...

Perhaps especially the Zulu units, since it looks a bit stupid having white men be zulus. But I also liked the Egyptian very much..

I have also heard that the African Elephant cannot be domesticated once, but the Cartagenians didn't use asian elephants did they?

Anyways, I don't know if this is the right place to debate other units, so i'll just stop right here.

Carthage domesticated a now extinct species of North African Elephant. If I remember correctly...

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread :)

BAH!!! You Artists make units faster than I can add them, organize them, and and and.....AHH! (brain explodes)
nice one by the way--(before brain exploded)

I would just like to point out that your comment is about 5 months late to the unit actually being added and are a month and about 20 days or just about 2 months late since the last post. Not only that, your post was IMHo worthless. I say this because you revived a thread to say that units are made too fast and that your brain exploded. You've been here since 2002, one would think that you would know better then to revive threads.

A note to all: unless there's constructive comments in your post, such as a link is dead, civilopedia entries, new icons, update to a unit (however it's probably better to make a new thread for this choice), reviving old threads is a NO NO! It's annoying, especially when it's something like this post.
