NOTW XXIX: Hired Swords - Game Thread

I succeeded in that PG, thank you Nictel for being so obviously not innocent. :p

You're welcome :p

Day 1
And then the bandwagon on Nictel started, a combination of people being suspicious and how much he wanted the sword. He panicked and followed ATPG's lead in crapping out a big post to distract everybody, accusing me, sprig, Seon, TForge, rhawn, and ATPG, on the basis "we were working together".

Can I just point out that I was *technically* right :scan: and that I also accused an Illian and two traitors.

In case people are interested here's my pm:
Spoiler :
NOTW XXIX: Longbowman
Role: Longbowman
Nationality: Lanun
Race: Human
Base strength: 4
Abilities: Captain of the Night - As a high-ranking Undercouncil member, few are more acquainted with the dealings of the night than you. As such people will have a hard time eliminating you during the night.
Poison - You may opt to poison someone at night, by secretly slipping out at night and poisoning the target with it. It's slow-working, the target does not die until the next night. This of course is handy as they will not see you outside at the night of death. One vial of poison is needed for each use of the ability, and the vial is used up in the process.
Theft – Each night, you may opt to steal an item (but only if you do not kill). PM the name of the item and the name of the person holding it to attempt to steal it.
Special Item: Vial of Poison (x3) – used for ability.
Victory condition: Undercouncil Victory – see background.
Personal Goal: None. Your only wish is to fulfill the job the Undercouncil has given you.

Background: There once was a Lanun longbowman around, but he's now dead and his body has been disposed of. You're not the real longbowman; you're a Svartalfar disguised as him, one of the most high-ranking assassins in the Undercouncil hierarchy. Usually the Undercouncil doesn't bring out the big names to deal with a mere company of mercenaries, but this is a rare circumstance.

The Company's activities have been a thorn in the Undercouncil's eye for a long time because they were one of the few companies of mercenaries not on their payroll - and they have decided that this mission was too valuable an opportunity to pass by. As soon as the relics had been stolen from the Illians, you would be able to 'acquire' them from the Company, and bring them back to the Undercouncil for a large reward. Sadly, the plans to send someone along with you have failed due to a lack of able high-ranking members, which puts you on your on own.

Your goal is to steal the three artifacts the Company has acquired from the Illians. These are the Eye of Nantosuelta, the Shield of Sucellus and the Sword of Junil. Three different people are keeping watch over the artifacts. As soon as you have acquired them, your VC (which is exclusive for you and you alone – and is not compatible with any other victory conditions) will be fulfilled.

The Undercouncil is good at obscuring its tracks, as are you. The poison you carry with you doesn't show anything until one night after the poison has been used. Follow the way of Esus, Angel of Deception, and victory will be yours.

It also explains my fascination with the sword

Yeah, but we weren't all working together. ATPG was working with Seon and I was working with sprig, but that's it. Most of the things you pointed out were actually coincidential, I wasn't working with ATPG at all.

So YOU were the one sneaking into Diamondeye's tent on Night 2! I will now point out that I was also somewhat right, and that the one sneaking in there on Night 2 WAS the one who poisoned him, I just didn't think it was you.

And now I'm sure something was up when sprig said he was attacked twice, cause there was nobody left to attack him. :p

You thought the Mithril Sword was one of the things you needed?

@Autolycus: That's what we were trying to tell them! Even if you were Illian, you could still protect us and still didn't want the Traitors to win. Like we said, you were more useful to us alive than dead. Even though Love revealed your ability, thus making you a traitor target, they would have had to guess who you were protecting, which might have gived us another night or two and might have won the game for us.

Our mistake was only protecting you and not offering an alternative, allowing BL to whip up the "We don't want to waste a day..." excuse.

That wasn't what I used to get Auto killed. I merely just used his own conversion story against him to get what I/we wanted. But you are absolutely right - by not offering up an alternative, it was really easy to swing votes the way I wanted. In fact you'll notice in the quicktopic I was playing this way to prevent ATPG from becoming that alternative... I'm also having a very hard time believing Auto after having his team wiped out on his own accord would just freely start protecting the innocents from the traitors. At some point push would come to shove and he'd have to be killed off anyway. And by this point, even if you had kept him alive ATPG and I had enough inside info coming to us that we'd know who Auto was protecting every night anyway.

Also the Mithril Sword was the Sword of Junil. The Mithril Shield was also the Shield of Sucellus, so at the time of his death he had two of the three items needed for his VC.
