Plan for Mosque III...

Its a mosque, and I am against it because it does exactly the opposite of what it is proposed to do. i.e. build peace.

That's possibly the most desperate grasping at straws I've ever seen, and is akin to saying "Well, of course it's the people who died on 9/11's own fault, since if they weren't in the towers at the time, they wouldn't have died"

Ah, the mosque/community center that seeks to build bridges, promote tolerance and peace actualy seeks to do the opposite of that.
1984, doublespeak is realized. Whats next? Thoughtcrime?

It's the opposition that is destroying and preventing "peace".

If you say something often enough for 3 threads some people believe that it will change people's opinion.

Link to video.

I was waiting for someone to link to that.

Seriously, ther are no legal arguments against such a building.

No one said there were any legal hurdles against them building the mosque.

The main hurdle they face is financial.

Public opinion can affect that - legally.

I happen to think the argument against the mosque legitimate. The majority appears to agree with me (as usual), but you dont (as usual). Not much left to argue about I guess.

Besides that, most people (here at least) have no moral arguments against it either. And those who due are based on ignorance and fear

No, its not based on ignorance or fear. Your simple labeling of the mosque opposition is typically dismissive of most who dont like the fact that people could actually have a legitimate reason to oppose the mosque. Instead of acknowledging it, you simply dismiss it.

I dont think thats a very effective counter to peoples public opinion. Especially when its not based on fear or ignorance at all.

How? They get donations from other Muslims, and build the mosque. If they sent me a letter asking for donations I would donate to it. Just to spite the bigots.

What majority? The majority in a rigged poll conducted only by one right leaning newspaper only in New York? While that is a majority in that group, if you look at the majority here at CFC we are all in favor of it.

If you don't want to be called a bigot or fearful, why is your entire argument against the mosque based on fear. "I oppose the mosque because it is offensive."
Having a black president is offensive to some, should we have stopped that?

Edward R. Murrow said:
We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men."
Read it.

Yes there is! :mischief:

Muslims can never be truely american 'cus of 9/11 they must always prove they are not terrists

Knock yourself out. Dont just talk about it, send in some cash.

Sigh. The poll wasnt rigged and multiple polls from reputable pollers have all consistently shown the same thing.

It seems to me you are just in denial of the obvious.

The majority of CFC isnt proof of anything. We all know the demograph here, and of course its going to vote along those lines.

Christian churches offend me can i stop them from being built

You can verbally object to them all you want. Go right ahead. Its your right to do so, so again, knock yourself out.

"liberals! Liberals!"

Why shouldnt this Mosque be built here?
Because 911 happened
But they are a completely different sect of Islam
.....
/ignorance

They are building a terrorist training camp in NY
/fear

Those are the two arguments i have heard made, admittedly the second by just a few
