Plan for Mosque III...

The GOP, Tea party, Palin and the usual suspects have all jumped on the band wagon, so no. Not really.

Actually, I have shown you several times that a majority of democrats, independants and republicans all think this is a bad idea and oppose it.

So its a tad bit more than your 'usual suspects'.

Again, it seems like your in denial on the amount of bipartisan support opposition has.

What when was this? THe only democrats i see opposing it are for political gain, not because they actually have anything against it

The majority of CFC isnt proof of anything. We all know the demograph here, and of course its going to vote along those lines.

Whats the demographic here then?

Well, if both sides are doing something perfectly legal.... ~ Mobboss

Mobboss, if you think the only thing you and other mosque-opponents can affect is their funding, then you should admit that your crusade is pointless.

However, its not.

You concede that the legality of the mosque's construction is insurmountable. You concede that the builder of the mosque must be allowed to exercise their fundamental rights if they can. You concede that all mosque-opponents can do is verbal protestation.

So whats the problem?

You say the Islamic center is a threat to peace.

No, I say it doesnt help the peace building process. I dont think its going to promote outright violence, but it is setting muslim/non-muslim relations back nationally.

No matter how much noise the opponents make, they're not going to make the groups who fund the building walk away

I disagree. Unless of course you are referring to funding from Iran or Saudi Arabia, but if that occurs I dont think you can imagine how much opposition would grow.

Rather, it is you and the opponents of the mosque who will walk away and look like a bunch of whiny kindergarten kids when you're done.

Sigh.

I thought we were godless liberals

I thought Christians were supposed to turn the other cheek, not to judge others and be kind!

Mobby, what do you expect to affect besides the mosque's funding?

How in the world would we not set back muslim/non-muslim relations? (hint: stop protesting and telling muslims that they don't belong)

Finally, how in the world do you expect the groups that publicly spoke in favor of the mosque to rescind their stances and not fund the mosque?

Already given several times.

Once again. I wouldnt think it a good idea simply because its going to be precisely controversial, and controversy isnt going to help muslim/non-muslim relations right now.

Its not just about 9/11. Both wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are ongoing, and the nation has had several attempted but unsuccessful terrorist attacks since 9/11. This issue hasnt had the chance to die down and go away, and this is simply continuing to excerbate the situation even further.

There has been an Islamic info centre 4 blocks away from ground zero this whole time. They've been there for years. So why the animosity now? Is 4 blocks an acceptable distance? Is there opposition to Park 51/Cordoba House simply because it's new?

Personally, I think the media has done a masterful job of manipulating you and everyone else into getting all hot and bothered about nothing. Don't feed the trolls, as they say.

So a sizeable portion of the U.S. is still so terrorized that they cannot handle a faith-based community center to be constructed on private property?

The terrorists have already won.

Funny who the protesters are emulating:

Bangladeshi authorities called a five-month halt to construction of a church in northern Bangladesh, for fear of huge conversions. Authorities have said they will approve renewed construction soon.

“The construction work of the church has been stopped by the protest of the local Muslims. Local people said, ‘Why should there be a church in the predominantly Muslim area?’” the official said. “This church is the first church in this area. Local people protested because they thought there would be huge conversion in this area from Islam to Christianity, and the church would be the center.”

A district official told Compass that construction would resume soon.

“Christians in this country have the right to practice their religion as well as the right to build churches,” the official said. “I think the permission of constructing the church will be given soon from the city council. If anybody actively obstructs the construction of the church, we will protect it.”

I would like to point out there are already muslims worshiping at the location. Do you oppose that?
If not, then your opposition is due to it being a mosque, not any ideas about 'Islam having to be held responsible for 9/11'. Christians are in the LRA and participated in the ethinic clensing in the Balkans. Are you and me responsible for that?
Sigh. The poll wasnt rigged and multiple polls from reputable pollers have all consistently shown the same thing.
Links please. We have spend the last three threads rehashing the same points. The least you can do is show us your polls.

It seems to me you are just in denial of the obvious.
Wen all else fails, use the elmentary school playground insult.
"I know you are but what am I?"

The majority of CFC says it is right, the majority of those polled in a rigged, narrow poll says its wrong. Which majority is right?
Remember also, a large minority of CFC posters are from the rest of the world and probably encapsulate quite well the international opinion if we were to stop this mosque.
