Drug abuse and violence can be as well...
People who abuse drugs often have chemical imbalances, etc...
People who are violent often have a history of having violence inflicted upon them...
Both are just as deep in my opinion.
And now we get back to how its incredibly insulting to compare feeling homosexual to drug abuse and violence.

You sure? I'm pretty sure they can set precedent, at least in there own district, if not nation wide.

Yes, but precedent requires similar circumstances and a court case to be cited in. Further it can be disagreed with by other courts based on the arguments in that case.

If Iowa went and passed a law banning same sex marriage, then this would be used as precedent and give opponents a large tool but no guarantee.

As it was never legal in Arizona this precedent does not apply due to different circumstances if a case is brought forward.

This. This a 100%. I'm sorry Ferris, but as Kramerfan has alluded to above, "Hate the Sin lover the Sinner" basically translates to "I hate something that is an intrinsic part of you and everything to do with it, but I don't hate you personally". That's still hate, even if it's not about the person persay. It just doesn't translate in practise, because this can lead to LGBT people feeling like they themselves are scum and lesser people.

Also this isn't just an individual's view, this is society's view of LGBT people. Just because there's the "liberal media" (which re-inforces LGBT stereotypes) and that there are more of "them" out doesn't make the fact that being gay even in America is a pretty tough deal.

They are always going to feel like that, and we don't have to tolerate you just so you can feel better about yourselves. Don't turn your fetish into a lifestyle.

It's not a "lifestyle", it's a life. And there just isn't a reason to take away their right to live it as they choose.

nah Im pretty sure quite a bit of them feel perfectly fine with who they are. It is only the few who have the misfortune to grow up around someone like you who is intolerant that probably feel much shame.

Heck, if you had a bunch of religious people shouting at you that you were disgusting and sinful and are going to hell, because of something that is biological, wouldnt you feel awful? Not to mention the constant fear of violence from bigot.

Oh yes, definitely. I'd feel awful for those poor religious people who can't even understand why what they're saying is wrong.

If it doesn't harm anyone, what gives you the right to determine what lifestyle is legally acceptable?

That is the crux in the issue from my perspective (and largely what the court went with).

 I believe in it. I don't hate anyone on this forum, nor do I in real life. Yet I do not always act like that, and I let my emotions get the best of me. But I still forgive everyone, and I know other Christians who do just the same.

Fair enough, I will do my best to dislike you and your peers' insulting intolerance and not you the person. You know, incredibly condescending pity FTW.

So while we're at it, I hate that the words of Christ Jesus are taken to cause such small-minded, hurtful, petty distress to so many people, all in the name of justifying one's own unease with a particular situation. I don't hate you, of course - that would be un-Christian.

The favorite cop-out of all Christians.
It's actually the words of Christ, the basis for the religion. Not a cop out at all.
Hard to practice, but a good ideal.

Strawman.
If you think it is wrong to even think judgmental thoughts about homos, why is it ok to do so about drug addicts?

Obviously, this type of activity happens and is counterproductive... people can be real s... just like the ones who attack Christianity for similar reasons.

Sorry, could you please be specific when you say the words of Jesus Christ?
What words exactly?

They are always going to feel like that, and we don't have to tolerate you just so you can feel better about yourselves.'
Well, yes, you do. That's called "common decency", and if you're not capable of it you have no place in human society.

Hi,

No, I don't think the quote is attributed to Jesus. Unless you're talking about the extra-Biblical communication that some people experience.
No, not those exact words, but the message was clear...
Jesus ate and dined with sinners... judge not... etc.

More accurate would probably be... love the sinner, forgive the sin...
But, still acknowledging sin existed is an important point.
