DOMA struck down by courts, gay marriage likely legal in CA again

Claims of "fraud" without government "thugs" and "kidnappers" to enforce it is such an empty term. Then again Im not going to expect him to rationally look past ideology and see that, especially since he is clinging to the idea that things like child labor and safe food were created by consumer, and not voter, demand.

It's times like this that we have to remember that Evangelical Christianity is central, not merely incidental, to GhostWriter's world view. The market is in itself perfectly functioning, because God intended it to be, and this is true prior to and despite any empirical evidence to the contrary. The market is natural, which means it was created by God, and why would God create something bad? Only men do that, so whatever negative outcomes the market produces must, by definition, be the product of misguided humanity.

That worship of the free market is not a feature of Evangelical Christianity in general, but seems to be a feature of the American brands of Evangelical Christianity. That is probably a result of the unholy alliance of economic liberals and socially conservatives in American politics. In the rest of the world Evangelical Christians do to some degree remember that exploiting the poor is prohibited by the Bible. (Doesn't stop the hate for the gays, though)

Get ready for polygamy and all kinds of bizzare marriage.

We've had people marrying warehouses and body pillows for decades. You're a little late to the party.

When my parents were married, a transvestite wizard sprinkled them with lucky water inside an ornamental barn in the hope that a bronze age Levantine war-deity would bless them with bountiful children. That's not bizarre enough for you?

Funny how contaminants in and the debasing of food only really stopped when we got around to regulating the food industry. Now it really only occurs in countries that lack food regulations.
Even if you go into a local 7-11 and get one of those nasty 'Spicy Queso Burrito' baking under the heat lamp, you know that medically, it is safe to eat. (Whether it will make your digestive track hate you is a completely different matter.)

Plus, how would you test food for contaminants? Do you own your own food-testing laboratory?

All life is precious...except when preserving people from deadly contaminated food. You were asking for it if you ate that roller hot dog.

That photo looks doctored. :D

Oh yeah, probably, but it's always cracked me up. The ultimate forbidden love!

Did it work?

They ended up with five, although that's pretty middling by traditional Catholics standards.

However, I will say, a proper free market does not include violence. Using violence against someone isn't part of the free market.

You realize without the legal and regulatory reforms our country got in the last century the only resort poor people had was violence and that the cheapest and most effective way for companies to get the poor people to do there bidding was also violence, right?

You really need to stop looking at the gilded age as some rosy time of honey and nectar. Where is your Christian compassion for the millions of people who suffered needlessly because of a government that didn't work for them and corporations that used them like expendable resources? Without proper regulations that's exactly what you get - problems don't magically correct themselves because lolfreemarketFTW!

Christian compassion is a socialist lie, remember?

If we follow Sartre, as basic a commercial activity as ordering from a restaurant are a form of violence. These issues go deep.
