Public Nudity?

Should Public Nudity Be Legalized?

I have seen women go topless for no reason NOT during the gay pride parade or working for a strip club. A certain neighbour of mine LOVES to use her right during the summer on early morning jogs. My neighbourhood doesnt have many kids (though it has two schools ) so nobody minds. Except the really catholic family, but they just shut up and turn the other way.

I'm guessing she's not particularly top-heavy?

Anyway, it's a social more, and it does affect other people, so while I'm not opposed to allowing public nudity, I can see how it is a legitimate law.

General public nudity? No thanks. I'm perfectly fine with nude beaches or whatever else though, and I do think our society should get over its breast-obsession. There's no real reason women shouldn't be able to go topless same as men.

Of course in your own home it's perfectly fine, I do it all the time.

People. Relax. It's just nudity. Not a big deal at all. This isn't about requiring nudity, it's allowing it. Nobody's going to take away your panties.

As for the kids, I suspect it's more damaging to the children to compel everyone to wear clothes all the time than it is for them to see a wiener or (gasp) a boobie. Let's not teach the kids to be ashamed of their bodies, that they need to cover themselves. It's not healthy. They have enough stupid crap to worry about.

And you have to look at ugly faces all day, don't you? Why's that so different from ugly butts?

I like Tycoon's point, too. Of course business owners should be able to choose to exclude naked people. But nobody should be able to tell me I can't walk down the street without pants.

PS If you never have, I'd strongly encourage you to make a point to spend some time naked with strangers. (No need to misconstrue that, you know what I mean.) You'll learn something about yourself.

Hey there stranger, wanna get naked?

I'm not for public nudity, but I think the idea of being naked illegal is ridiculous. We're not born with clothes.

Well, i say no for general public nudity.

There are already nude beaches, what more do you need? I suppose you could have nude zones....

no she isnt.

Im sure people would actually be SUPPORTIVE if she were top-heavy.

Anyways, its stupid that they ban nature. But they have banned even dumber things, like what things you arent allowed to do with a SPOUSE in PRIVATE

Oral sex is illegal in 18 states.
In Willowdale, Oregon it is against the law for a husband to talk to dirty in his wife's ear during sex.
In Clinton, Oklahoma it is illegal to masturbate while watching two people have sex in a car.
In Washington State there is a law against having sex with a virgin under any circumstances (including the wedding night!).
In Washington D.C. there is a law against having sex in any position other than face to face.
Lastly, even liberated California proves to be not quite so liberal for the animals...In Ventura County cats and dogs may not have sex without a permit.

So if they ban those things, why shouldnt they ban public nudity? (list taken from some random website that was #1 result on google)

Nope. To be frank, I don't like the idea of a morbidly obese man or a wrinkly old woman pressed against me in a crowded subway. Especially one that's sweaty.

And lets not go into whether or not they wipe properly before sitting on public seating.

Now here's a reasonable argument. And because of this there should be places that require certain amount of clothing (or certain level of personal hygiene, or even both) but there just isn't any reason to demand people walking in the streets to wear clothes if they don't want to (it might be reasonable to demand a modest hygiene from them too though).

That's perfectly fair, but let's note the difference between generally "in public" and on the subway. I'm guessing that there are subways that wouldn't allow me on barefoot, but I'm free to walk the streets without shoes.

Also keep in mind that you don't have to be naked, and some of the crap on the clothing of the people pressed up against you in that crowded subway is pretty nasty, too.

hear, hear. I usually just go :shake: at people who make their 5yo daughter wear a bikini at the swimming-pool :crazyeye:

as for allowing nakedness? sure, I wouldn't want to go around naked, but why should I forbid other people to do it? Businesses are still free to ban naked people, like they often ban shirtless, shoeless or sometimes tieless people.

Well, to be fair, your hands and mouth typically have more bacteria than your ass or other private parts.
