Is it normal for the game to get stuck for like 10 seconds. Between processing turns. The globe stops rotating in the right bottom corner and everything stops working for a little while.
Could be the new firaxis patch?

What happens if someone conquers a Holy City and eliminates the Civ? Do they become the new Founder and can up its Beliefs? Or can only the original Founder ever do that?

try to get another AI owner of it and conquer it afterwards.

So yeah that's a great idea.
I decided to give the city to my next victim from across the pond Phillip.

However it turns out the city isn't even in my city list.
So I literally have no control over it, cannot give it away... nothing.

Definitely a bug.

Let's say I mine the resource jade which yields an extra production. If I trade this jade, and its my only jade so I lose the luxury, will I at least keep the +1 to production if I keep working the tile?

Yes.

Tile yields are untouched by trade.

So no one knows if there's a way to look up research agreements you agreed upon?

I can find no way to keep track of them all. So what I did was use the map pins feature to put a note for myself saying Satellites at 29 turns. But what's weird is I didn't get Satellites at 29 turns. Does anyone know of any bugs with research agreements not triggering at the correct time? It is supposed to trigger when it says 29 turns, right?

Unfortunately the game lacks the interface to keep track of agreements, luckily the map pins can be a way to keep notes to yourself.

Using pins is a great idea.

I used pen & paper to note down that amount of turns, ALSO to find out that it did not happen at that turn.
Searching into it I found some remarks that the first number of turns stated is only an estimate based on steady state Science of both partners
... but that this is adapted to actual.

Complicated
Perhaps somebodu can clarify the math here

1) can a city-state capture a city?

2) if you levy troops and capture a city-state with levied troops, who gets the city?

1)edit: Okay I was wrong, they can capture, but they will raze the city
2)you.

Question: Which unit is better. Battering ram or siege engine?

I've never had this pre or post patch and I've played quite a few huge maps. Somewhere a bottleneck is occuring which is often system RAM or graphics card RAM filling up meaning your system has to write to virtual memory i.e. the hard drive, which is considerably slower hence the pause.

:) Aha! That would explain why I don't get these slow-downs: I have a solid state drive.

Personally, I prefer Rams for several reasons:
  • The escort units are (usually) robust, so you shouldn't lose your Ram either from city fire or enemy units. On the other hand, siege engines can be destroyed fairly easily by up-to-date mounted units.
  • Catapults and the likes can only attack of they haven't moved, so they lose any turn advantage they might have compared to a Ram.
  • You don't need to upgrade them.
However, Artillery can fire up to 3 tiles away (more with Observation Balloons), so they have that going for them. I think it's ultimately a matter of preference.

Playing as Persia, upgraded my Warriors to Immortals. If I understand correctly, those units are no longer melee and I can't take cities with them, right?

@Eramas
You are correct that Immortals can't take cities.
However, that is not a big issue as you only need to keep 1 warrior unpromoted or build a horsemen/heavy chariot to solve the issue

Okay, thank you!

I have the same problem. It was working fine before the Spring patch.

I made the mistake of upgrading all my warriors to Immortals my first game. :) Just build a spearman and you'll be alright.

I don't seem to have these slow downs in between turns and I have a regular hard drive (albeit at 10k rpm one).
