I'm aiming for the same thing. Are you sure they don't have a different testing day later in October?
Edit: There's one on the 15th, which is the one my school is doing. May have dodged a bit of a bullet there.

I personaly hated the PSAT, but I don't recall my score. A 30 on the ACT and 3.78 GPA ranked 55 was good enough for me.

But seriously, I think the PSAT will be good, just for some prep. I plan on taking the SAT more than once anyway.
