Currently in my town they're talking about moving the local library to a building that used to be a "Normal College." (I'm not sure what that means.)

A Normal School or a Normal College is an older term for what is more commonly called a Teachers' College these days. It is basically a college where the only major is education. They also often include primary or secondary schools where student teachers can gain experience working with real children.

They're almost as tortured as the Colts and the Steelers, who've been in the other half.

Oh, stop acting like you're tortured. The Patriots have been in like half of the Super Bowls of the last 10 years.
So people can't appreciate that their team is going to the Super Bowl if that team is successful?

No, they can't.
He isn't a bandwagoner, so he can. It seems superficial to get into an uproar over someone being happy that his favorite team won. :shake:

Well, Steven Tyler is great, even if he's now doing all those stupid things for 'merican Idol.

Actually, in my opinion, his screeching was worse than a parrot's. The NFC's anthem was much, much better.

I was reading the letters to the editor in a music magazine (it was a small local one). For some reason, some pastor decided to write in this letter to the editor:

Salvation monger
The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from
all sin. Whosoever is not found written in the
book of life will be cast into the lake of fire. The
wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eter-
nallife through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ask Jesus
Christ to save you right now. Homosexuality is
perversion by choice. It is a horrible sin. Repent!

Just what is the point of writing this into a music magazine? I'm inclined to think that it was sent to the wrong address. Either way it's hilariously out of place among the other letters and I got a laugh.

P.S. You can see it here -- August 1986, page 2.

I hate it when *any* musician screams/screeches for/during a song.

Rave: I missed him singing the anthem. Because I never bothered to watch in the first place. :smug:

Went to see Joshua Bell at the Kennedy Center tonight. It was great!

This sentence in a magazine article made me chuckle:

In a moment of deep frustration over the whole affair, [he] sucker-punched a nearby wall that wasn't looking.

The situation itself was kind of crappy (the person in question literally crushed all the bones in that hand .... it's happily fixed though) but I still thought it was funny.
