Random Thoughts Sechs: Eeeeehhhh...

I was standing at the bus stop and wondering like an idiot why it's late.
Then I remembered that the schedules are different during sundays and holidays.
Then I remembered that today is a holiday and I don't need to go to work.

So I went back home and became gloriously drunk...

No.
Because I forgot it's holiday I didn't buy any groceries/alcohol yesterday and now the stores are closed.
I guess I'll just soberly play some games.
Oh wow, my sympathies, that sucks! But you're probably better off though.

I have little sympathy for people that don't keep a stash. :p
But yeah, that sucks.

I'm just astonished that other countries shut down on holidays that aren't Christmas.

Actually, it doesn't really suck.
I could buy beer from a kiosk or gas station for 1,5x the normal price, but I'm not really that committed to drinking alone on a wednesday afternoon.

Calling pineapples that is just bananas.
Good one.
Americans are good at being annoying, I'll grant you. :p
Oh what a hostile sentiment... *faintsontocouch*
What do pineapples have to do with anything?
1. There's a broad consensus globally on "ananas" while "pina" and "pineapple" are in marginal minority postions.
(And i thought that was less true for "aubergine". But it isn't. #English)

2. "Eggplant" appears at least somewhat plausible. The less phallic specimens are somewhat egg-shaped, after all.
"Pineapple" however must clearly be the result of a drunk thought process. It doesn't look like an apple, or a pine cone. Never mind that pines don't have apples.
Presumably this is about the surface. But then there's armadillos that are curiously not named after non-existing pine-related things.

3. "Ananas" is actually from a local language. Tupi or Guarani or some such.
Obviously that doesn't apply to "aubergine". That's just a snooty french word.
Which is actually from catalan albergínia.
Which is from Arabic بَاتِنْجَان‎ .
Which is from Persian بادنجان .
Which is ultimatly from Sanscrit वातिगगम .
So...
...that's also a local language, since aubergines are from India.
Wait... D'oh!

Also, are you folks making me explain humor again?

I was just thinking of the time when I was grocery shopping with my dad and he mistook a can of pineapple slices for a can of bananas.

My dad didn't read French, so he didn't realize what was really in the can (the picture should have told him, but he probably didn't even notice that).

I just got a robocall which left a message in what sounded like mandarin. It's like the spammers aren't even trying anymore.

I've gotten some of those too.

People need to get over the notion that board games are for children. I do enjoy some of the online versions, but it's more fun to play with real people.
I’d rather stick with online, at least there’s little chance that your opponent won’t flip the table when he/she is loosing :P.

Many times that I've played board games with adults they wound up acting like children lol. Needs the right crowd for "in person" to work out, not someone who will flip the risk board, refuse to play after (wrongly) arguing a rule, or refuse a draw then still get angry because they don't want to play anymore...even as accepting a draw is still on the table!

Aside from those, some of my family members want to play on occasion but they tend to favor mostly luck-based stuff that's as uninteresting to me as Civ seems to be to them, so I just politely decline those.

We have good labor protection laws ;).
(and other countries have more...er... religion, but that doesn't really apply for today)

It's always interesting to see how multi-national companies handle each country having different holidays.
This year, ours had a problem equalizing the number of days and ended up just giving the US 2 floating days to use.

3am, still unable to sleep, but my brain think something very interesting, now I live in a rented 90 m2 house with 70 m2 building, but a lot of time we discuss about the good old day when we just move to the city, we lived in a studio size apartment 4 family member, the flat possessed a dynamic scent, a scent of whatever we cook that day, but there were lots of interaction and laugh.

I made another realization, when we were visiting my parent's villa with only our family (parents mostly live in the city, close to hospital), 1800 m2 in the country side with a nice mountainous view. The spacious house isolated us most of the time, our body actually only occupied that specific amount of space, so however huge our ambition to enjoy a spacious living space, our body only be able to occupied that much, actually it is pretty pointless, there are lot of corner left not used, empty most of the time, just like a dead living space, whenever we established our favorite spot, the other spot mostly left untouched and empty. During our visit to my parent house, we want to go back to our little house asap.

Now I concluded for myself that, a huge living space (not mansion or palace obiviously they served for a lot of inhabitants) are only a candy to the eyes but will not serve its function as a home, like you saw a beautiful river in a very cold morning, you think it will be cool for you if you jump and swim, while the reality it will be quite a torment, a huge spaces ergonomically speaking, separated the family member that live there, unless they are a bunch of giant, it will hardly served its function as a home.

It does sort of look like a pine cone that hasn't opened yet.

When I was a little kid we spent a few days in Hawaii on our way from Okinawa to Minnesota, and we toured the Dole pineapple factory. I was very impressed with the giant pineapple water tower and the free pineapple juice in the lobby.
