What? Contracting contractions isn't cool yet?
I was raised in Christian Science, yes. Oh, and kindly keep words like "cult" for less polite surroundings, please. That's not helpful at all.
The definition sucks, but Christian Science would fit under that umbrella.Walter Martin said:A cult, then, is a group of people polarized around someone's interpretation of the Bible and is characterized by major deviations from orthodox Christianity relative to the cardinal doctrines of the Christian faith, particularly the fact that God became man in Jesus Christ
Ask a teacher. I think one of the members is already a teacher.
I could myself answer to "ask a buddhist", "ask an indigo child".
We should have an Ask a Hypocrite thread. Because every single one of the other threads could then be merged into it.
Definitely ask a moderator as well as ask a Muslim.
Ask a Muslim has been done a number of times. The first time it just devolved into a fundy Sunni telling a secular Shi'a, "you're wrong!"
Ask a Buddhist is one I'd like to follow.
Did we have ask a buddhist yet?
That does sound like fun. If you find it, please post the link.
I'm flattered, but I've only been to three Orthodox liturgies in my life, I've never been formally catechized, never partaken of any Orthodox sacraments, etc. At this point I'm really just a teenager with more interest in and knowledge of Orthodox thought and practice than moast, so I really don't think I'm qualified. It'd be nice if Tekee were still here so he could start it, although he probably wouldn't be the best spokesman for Orthodoxy.
I think he was using a definition like Walter Martin's:

Maybe. Almost all of my information comes from searching the internet, emailing a priest, and a copy of the Orthodox Study Bible, so someone could get all the information I have with time and 16.10 plus shipping. I think it would be better to wait until I have some personal experience before opening a thread like that. Anyone who wants access to what I know is free to PM me, or just ask Plotinus and get post count for it.That is true, but you're still pretty qualified for CFC
Although for a thread like that, I think knowledge of Orthodoxy would be enough.
The Kingdom of the Cults? My dad owned a copy of that before it got burnt. I used to borrow it a lot. It was my one of my favorites when I was like 10. You know, maybe I should start "Ask a guy who is and, in retrospect, always has been, an unemployed religious studies major waiting to happen."Yeah, that's the defintiion I'm using basically. In fact, I'm fairly sure he wrote the book on cults that I have...
Given the subject, burning seems a strangely ironic way to go.The Kingdom of the Cults? My dad owned a copy of that before it got burnt.

We had a housefire a few years back. A lot of random religious and nonreligious books got burnt.Given the subject, burning seems a strangely ironic way to go.
