Rise of the Ottomans (C3C)

then perhaps you can use it in a fashio to where one janissary is an upgrade, or even a sort of eltie type generated by a wonder?

and no problem, all I ask is that you portray Byzantium in a fair and accurate maaner :)

I had to go to New York City for a couple of days, so I wasn't able to check back to the forums that often. I'll be back today, but will be extremely busy this week, I suppose.

Just to let everyone know :)

suggestion: add "Ahi Community" to game as a wonder or tech
for ones who doesntknow it: simply a trade network/community that makes trade less corrupted, enables people learn jobs "by hearth"

Dead.

Mostly because everyone said the map is ****ed up.

I'm still waiting for LouLong or Yodapower to provide an actual alternative however.

Eer... had not checked this thread for a long time, checked it today and then I see my name :D

Now if you expected a map from me, it would have nice and wise to let me know :crazyeye: for I had no clue you had asked me for one.

"Maybe" I can help you, especially since I am interested in this project. Mithadan is gonna kill me if yours go first but he is getting used to killing me by now  (sorry Mithadan, no offense meant to you).
Now what do you want precisely ? Is it the pciture I posted on the first page or something else ? What size ? Have you carefully planned the size (length of turns, empty areas, precise cities ...) ?
Sorry if I sound quite like a pain but since I usually take great care in doing my maps, I don't to waste time...

About Yoda, it seems he is off-creation for quite some time.

Je n'ai pas exactement demandé pour une carte, je demandé pour idées... but now that you've brought it up a map would be great :D

The picture you posted on the first page is pretty much exactly what I need. Have I carefully planned the size? To a point. I know the basic cities I'd like to include, and the turns would be one year each actually (maybe 2)... the empty areas would be the deserts and areas around the black and caspian sea... otherwise most would have some civilization or another in the area. Do you need me to find you anything else?

Merci d'utiliser la langue de Moliere, cela me touche (weird transcription= "nice to see someone who recognizes the superiority of the French language" :p ).

Further question ? Yes indeed !
What point have you reached for the map size :D

Oops ! Edit : another question...
Could you give me one of the smallest areas that would need to be represented on the map (Corfu, a small peninsula or another island....).

Meh, je a étudié français pour trois année dans mon lycée

The smallest points you'd have to include... :hmm: Bosphorus, Corfu, maybe some of the Agean islands... that's about it.

As for the size, well I kind of mod Civ3 more than I play it :o. I'm really not sure how big the map should be... not as big as the Medieval Europe map of course... but probably bigger than the desired section is in that map.

Ok, fisrt update in a while.

I'm finally done with the strategic resources, but there seems to be some sort of bug that's suddenly come up about technologies... I'll have to check that out later as I have practice right now.

By tonight I hope to have the technology problem fixed and all the resources edited in there with civilopedia icons and texts.

From there in another week I'll hopefully finish the skeleton of the 2nd and 3rd era, and patch up the tech tree problems...

Then up to someone to draw in the little arrows because i'm horrible at that...

Then I just add in the units, buildings, civs, put it all on the map, and beta's ready. So another... month or two?

LouLong have you decided whether you'll do that map or not.

OK I will do it. I would have liked to know the size but since I know what are the smallest elements that need to be present I should sort things out.

I should send you a first sketch beginning of next week.If you like what it shows (limits, areas) I will fill it in. (PS, just don't tell Mithadan I am working on that one since he is still eagerly expecting one from me too... which I will try to do).

No work was done since I was away on a trip until an hour or two ago.

But to quote a legendary comedian

"This ain't dead yet ************"

@LouLong: Let me help you out here :) I'd say that you should include these small areas, as they are VERY important.

- Corfu
- Crete
- Rhodes
- Aegean Islands: Can represent them as only 2 or 3 single-tile islands, I'd say.
- Chiros: Big island, it's good to have it, but isn't that historically important compared to the other ones.

- Cyprus: I think this is the most essential.

- Bosphorus & Dardanel: The way you can do these is to have the tile where the cities are going to be placed all surrounded by land, except two coast tiles on north west and south west. This way, whoever controls the city also controls the ship traffic between the Black Sea and the Aegean Sea through Marmara. But land units will be able to pass to the other side no matter who controls the city. This has been the case with the Ottoman Empire (some parts of the Balkans were conquered even before the fall of Constantinople).

Nope. Thanks for fishing out the thread though, saves me the trouble of finding it and bumping it back up. I suppose LouLong is still doing work on the map, while I myself am finishing up the resources tonight. They all work great, except for a few issues with them appearing in the civilopedia.
