Should you need to be pass a credit check in order to vote?

Should you need to have a certain credit score in order to vote?

I voted no. Obviously, as long as you are a taxpayer you should be allowed to vote, but only taxpayers.

Thats Federal of course, statewise, obviously States should be able to impose additional restrictions such as literacy, etc. And I wanted to add that illegals shouldn't be able to vote, which is obvious but they do in great numbers.

Well we could say we are in a republican form of government. You could call it a Democratically elected Republic. I've heard it described as a Banana Republic (I think that was more tongue in cheek :) ) Also Constitutional Republic. I'm sure we could describe it as a police state too. Talk to certain people and we are in a Presidential Dictatiorship. Some would argue we are in an Oligarchy ruled by the a certain upper class. You can call the United States government a lot of things but it certainly is not a democracy.

Oh christ we vote for the officials and in many states vote on particularly important issues. This country clearly is a blend of democracy and republic.

On this issue just reeks of an attempt to exclude the poor.

FFS, Democracy and Republic aren't mutually exclusive. When will you silly minors (an assumption, I doubt I'm wrong) learn; as far as I'm concerned this is one of the greatest blights the Civilization games have left on people. The games, and of course moronic Republicans who insist we're a Republic instead of a Democracy for purely partisan reasons.

If you really want to describe the US electoral system, you're a Constitutional Presidential Republican Representative Democracy.

that's pretty patently unconstitutional. also, proof that illegals vote in great numbers plz

I think there is that Irish guy with the criminal record O' Keefe and his gang that obtain ballots that aren't theirs.

So what to you is a democracy then? What differentiates the United States from a democracy?

Switzerland is much closer to a democracy. They use direct voting often do decide laws. A democracy involves directly voting.

Not going to disagree with you but I was talking purely from a Federal level. What certain states do is up to them. I would have to say semi-direct democracy through referendum isn't working that well for California.

First off I'm not a minor. You really shouldn't lead with that it makes you look like an ***.

Secondly if you are calling all Republicans morons I will march up there and fight you. Then have some coffee and drive you to some free healthcare. On the other hand if you are saying that the group of Republicans who claim we are a republic to make Republican sound good then I agree that isn't an accurate description and to use it in that way is an unnecessary lie.

Thirdly I do not disagree with your description. I do not think that using just the word Democracy is any more accurate that using Republic. Both could be used to describe the United States and most government because of changes to the accepted definitions but the most often used and understood meanings of these words are not accurate to describe the Government.

Although i understand why you would like to implement these restrictions and can see good reasons for it unfortunately these types of rules have been abused in the worst way in the past by Democrats. In order to prevent that kind of abuse it is probably better to limit our restrictions as much as possible to balance between voter fraud and voter suppression. Illegals should not be able to vote, they legally aren't allowed to vote afaik. There is no reason to change rules just assist in the enforcement.

BTW we saw voter fraud in Wisconsin during the recall election. There may not have been much there may have been more than we realize but there certainly was some. There are videos out there as evidence to it.

Your credit score should factor in how often you have voted.
I am not in favor of giving senior citizens who do not pay their bills a good credit rating! This, sir, is an absurd policy. You should also get off my lawn.

We have a democracy in California and it is awful. Do not want.

Fine. I'm just used to dealing with folks like Dommy, who are woefully uninformed about the world.

Secondly if you are calling all Republicans morons I will march up there and fight you. Then have some coffee and drive you to some free healthcare.

Oh the irony.

This is what I'm saying.

Though to be honest, I won't hesitate to call someone a moron for voting Republican. Unless you're voting strategically to keep out some tea party/libertarian nutjob, more often than not you're simply supporting social regressives backing poor economic policy. Not that the Democrats are a whole lot better, but at least it's a marginal gain. But I digress.

I disagree with that. Strongly disagree. Mostly because the modern definition of democracy - i.e. a system that typically involves representative assemblies rather than direct democracy - is the common definition. That's why direct democracy gets its own semi-prefix: direct.

Moreover, the people that will try and describe the US as a Republic rather than a Democracy tend to overlook the fact that a Republican nation says nothing about how political power is distributed. Yes, the US is a Republic. So is France. Yet so was Egypt. So is China. I don't see anybody rushing out to call the latter two democracies. What word then shall we use to distinguish between the former and the latter.

Also, a nitpick from before: Banana Republic is not a term people use to describe the US (or at least I've never heard it used as such). It's reserved for the more kleptocratic nations, particularly ones who can grow large amounts of bananas.

Wow the Republican's are starting to pull the stops out on trying to restrict voters.

Mother of God! JR JR!!!! What the frak is this! You promised me no election fund! What do you have to say about your self now sir!

I also went LOL when people claim that America was "the Land of the Free."

This is something I cannot go LOL at. The Republicans are now demonstrated to be oppossing to liberty.

Wait, is there a min score, or do you just need to fill it out?
