Single Player bugs and crashes v35 plus (SVN) - After the 18th of August 2014

quick update, i cannot attack water units on top of sea tunnels with vertical flight units (in this case attack helicopter)

Rev 8037:

On entering the city advisor for the first time I get the following asserts:

Assert Failed

File: CvArtFileMgr.cpp
Line: 108
SVN-Rev: 8020
Expression: false
Message: ArtInfo: 'ART_DEF_MOVIE_LASCAUX' was not found

They are defined in the Modules/zMovie. This module has to be there and active because sometimes BtS "looses" some part of he link and does not show the movie.

Some how the MLF file for the Modules folder has been changed and has it turned off. I will fix.

Ranged Assault cannot be used if the target is in friendly (but not domestic) territory. It was annoying when I thought only barbs (+ HNs + animals) were affected, but even the enemy wot I'm at war with is immune while it's attacking my ally/vassal instead of me!

Please fix!

Interesting... will look into that.

Hey guys, thanks for the good work you've been putting into SVN the past weeks!

Unfortunately, I've been stuck on rev 8010 because any later ones, after loading my save and doing the Ctrl+T routine I am no longer able to save. (failed to compress game data).

Here's a recent save, can somebody please try it on the current SVN rev?

Best viewport for my civ is 90x70 to keep memory under 2 GB.

My recent conclusions are:

1) At the current size of my game I have a problem with "Enable graphics paging" leaking memory. Even if Alberts2 solved the unit memory problem this is still important when you have a 12 MB save.

2) Both graphics paging and viewports don't work well together every time the viewport changes and one of the cities prompts for build instructions. The layers are paged out and when they do get paged in they are from the old viewport location, making the map look like a total mess. At least this has no functional impact.

3) Healer/Apothecary AI spam, although somewhat better, doesn't seem to be fixed entirely. Check AI cities.

Also going into my citys list and got this:
Asset Failed

SVH-Rev: 8020

I can Load, Ctrl+T, Play a few turns and Save that game without error so i can't really help you with that error.

About 1) at some point you have to life with the limited memory we can use and try playing on a smaller map. It's possible to save more memory in the dll but that is alot work and in the end all this work will be eaten up by new stuff. I don't think graphics paging is leaking memory but if you scroll around the map the memory usage increases. This is normal and graphics paging starts to free memory if the game uses 2GB but it can only stop the engine from seeing plots so in a big game like yours it won't have a big effect. I don't had viewports enabled then i loaded your save and i don't think it is necessary to use them at this point.

The merge of Hydros' mods will be complete as soon as a unitschema and a gameinfoschema are added.
Preferably both files up to date. ;)

I put those two in and now the pedia breaks when I try and look at the buildings.edit no it is not those. Wonder what changed since I last looked at the pedia? I did a sync with the Svn TB's stuff 8049 and whatever was in 8048. Oh and some stuff I was doing with the African Elephant units.

Can someone tell me what building comes after Clay Pit in the pedia?

never mind it is the African Elephant buildings

DH, you might put in the up-to-date schemata.
The building schema you have put in has a size of 70,3 kByte while the current one has 70,6 kByte.

If you go through the different folders you find several versions of all schemata, imho it's about time for the master schema so all files refer to the current version.

I've been using these threads to preserve bug reports that still need to be addressed so here's another that's been brought up that I'll get to soon:
If you use the option of no ZOC then Strategic Command needs to be disabled as well, it becomes an empty GG promotion, but it is still a prerequisite for following promotions.

I'm currently wondering why I can apply the Speed promotion to the Grenadier unit but not the Rifleman (SVN 8024).
The Grenadier is classified as Throwing and the Rifleman as Gunpowders, but neither is matching one of the classes listed in the "Available To" specifications for the Speed promotion in the Sevopedia (which reads Recons, Mounted, Helicopters, Wheeled, Tracked, Clones, Dreadnoughts, Assault Mechs, Hunters).
And the sub combat types don't match either.

Bug or feature?

There are some new ways in the xml to classify what unit combats have or do not have access to entire promotionlines. These have not been updated to show in the pedia for a given promotion yet.

In this case, the Speed promotionline is available to throwing units but is not available to Gun units in general.

Ok, so a feature. Though now I wonder about the rationale behind that. Were gunpowder units considered too strong for this? Which would make the Grenadier a bit of an in-between unit; it has the strength of a gunpowder unit but is still classified as Throwing (and is in fact the counter to the Rifleman).

It's more about Throwing Units. They train in darting forward and pulling back quickly which can lend to greater overland speed in general after enough development there. General gun units aren't trained to get in and out... they're trained to engage and carry through and hold their ground.

@ Sparth

Could you please add 'ART_DEF_UNIT_SETTLER_FEMALE_MIDDLE_EAST'?
Thanks in advance.

edit:
I found the mistake.
I missed the renaming from middle_eeast to meast.
