Single Player bugs and crashes v37 plus (SVN) - After the 24th of December 2016

Merging and splitting units is all about the amount of individuals in that unit, not the sizes of each individual. ^^
Theoretically yes, but ingame, not so much, lol :p

Current SVN 9424. (but not related).

The Bug option to save a file when returning to the main screen has stopped working. Not sure when, probably since Xmas.

This comment is kinda baffling to me. Because you do have SIZE categories and VOLUME categories. All units clearly declare both of these factors in their combat classes.

Regardless of the size of the dogs in the unit, as variable by breeds (unless you're trying to include such behemoths as Great Danes) the SIZE category of the unit is small (thus height at normal resting stance is around half that of an average human and the length of the body is at or less than the height of an average human.)

Thus if we want groups of particular BREEDS of dogs, then we should create new dog unit templates for those. You could certainly have a unit of Chihuahuas that would be a Tiny sized unit and potentially able to thus benefit from that small size and yet similar strength by taking sting promos. (That'd be kinda cool for a special unit ;) ) And you could have Medium size dogs (from really big breed stock) from much the same thinking. But the current definition of a dog is based mostly on your standard German Shepherd, hip height. And the Felines are Medium sized based on your standard Jaguar - Tiger - Lion size (Human or a little larger body mass.)

Merging never ever indicates a change of size, only group volume.

I'd love to let canines merge and split but when you get to upgrading to an LE unit, it's exploitable to allow it. Why? Because just before upgrading your dogs, you can split them all down to solo group size, getting tons of them, then upgrade them, and each one of those now thousands of dogs gets the same amount of crime control as the standard group size and each of them are also costing so much less for upkeep due to the smaller group size. So you can get a massive amount of cheap crime control this way.

It's also got an issue with Canines being a vision specialty unit. This would mean you could train one, split the unit, and support 3 cities with one unit to cover the visibility needs the dog fills in for. Not really intended. You'll notice most other vision specialist units are also incapable of merging/splitting, in part for this reason.

As for the cats, they operate a lot like strike teams and allowing them to merge thus REALLY makes them WAY too ultra-lethal and uncounterable. This is particularly true since only they would be able to counter themselves at that point but only one nation can ever get them. I suppose it certainly makes a case for those really strong master big game hunters... but yeah, I think too strong to allow it when all other black ops style units cannot merge or split to keep them from overpowering heavily merged military regulars too easily.

I'm sorry... I'm not familiar with this option.

Yep... looks like I'll need another combat class for these trained animals. No other CC would work to keep them from being mergable/splittable without overreaching into other types of units I want to leave capable of it.

Dont worry about this right now, unless its something u are actually working on, i'd rather have that other stuff ur working on . .

What I'm working on now is just perfecting things. This may be as easy as adding the Tamed combat class to those units... either that or just adding a new Trained combat class for them. Not too tough.

what would be the difference between them then??

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking but I need them to have a combat class that uses the tag that keeps them from splitting/merging. That's all. This way when they get to upgrade to LE units, it's not exploitable and you can't train just one to cover the vision needs of 3 locations.

Does that answer your question?

actually i was wondering what is the difference between "tamed" and trained"?? is this just domestic or what??

I'm not sure yet. If there would be no difference then there is no need to establish a different one for Trained. I'm not sure what tags are in use on Tamed, which already exists for tamed animals and breeding pairs and so on.

I saw that once before but can't remember why it was happening now. If I were to load that game would I see the same or was it a local problem of some sort?

Is HuntAI still bugged? I know it was in base v37.
I've tried to repair it but it still seems to be struggling and I'm not sure why. Still needs something more. What I tried may not have targeted the problem at all.

Thanks for replying. What I've noticed is my units will often not target certain enemies ever. I haven't let myself give them time to keep searching for things to kill though.

Graphics glitch?

Using SVN 9434, (just updated from SVN 9432)

Battering Rams are now leviataing logs with no crew.

I also wanted to bring up slower game speeds where bears still reign supreme with proper games being done while other critters who can do games do not have speed appropriate gains in terms of strategic choices.
