Single Player bugs and crashes v37 plus (SVN) - After the 24th of December 2016

This game is getting random infinite loop hangs, i am unsure what does it, and i am not getting a crashdump, and not sure what log to attach. (I have turned on logging as stated in the first post of this thread)

The reference of the tag in the dll code that reads the EraInfo xml (CvInfos) is the only thing there that I'm surprised TB didn't remove right away. But I'm sure it would only be one inconsequential error message when launching the game running the debug dll.
My search didn't come up with those so I must've been a bit hasty with that. Not that it creates an issue but I'll fix it anyhow. As for the schemas, no harm in having them there. When the core schema is used to again update all modular ones, the change there to eliminate it will ensue for all.

Beeline stings weren't changed at all. They are as they always have been.

Will try it.
I don't know why you're having this problem. If I had a clue why I'd say it but nothing unusual is happening there for me or anyone else so without being able to replicate it, I'd have to think it's maybe something sourceforge can answer to.

Ok, I'll get right on that. AI changes can have this impact so it's not so strange to be happening.

Had to do another check out of the SVN. I wonder if I have a more up to date Sourceforge version? I update it regularly. :dunno:

You mentioned some days ago that you had a problem deleting a file within your C2C play folder. That is a sure sign of a process that windows for some reason is not capable of stopping properly. It is usually dll files that refuse to be deleted like that and it can happen with all kinds of software that has been runned before you try to delete them. I've experienced it hundreds of times myself, though never with C2C.
A computer restart and then delete the file right away before doing anything else usually does the trick. Some cases are pretty bad where you have to start windows in "Safe mode" to avoid it from loading the dll into memory as an active process (many viruses are designed to have windows run them as a computer start-up process though it doesn't have to be a virus even though you experience this).

Sometimes the reason for it happening can be a bug in the software in question, but more often it is a bug in windows. The bug in windows can have been introduced by third party software that makes changes to windows registry when being installed or used, sometimes two different softwares makes similar changes to registry assuming no other software has ever changed that part of the registry and clashes can occur that results in operating system bugs. Windows also make changes to the registry, when you interact with it, that assumes the registry has only been changed by windows in known manners previously. Manually fixing issues that can arise in the windows registry is not advised for the inexperienced, a windows reinstall is usually the solution if such errors become unbearable. One bug in one software can trigger another bug in a different software and this eventually stack up and that's kinda how OS's can become bad over time from usage.

Might be the problem. Like any other programming team, they have bad revisions now and then ;)

Or a mismatch because did you not say that you don't update your version? Your older version may be incompatible with newest version.

Or win 10 is giving me fits again. Or........ and............ and/or................

I use CCleaner on a regular basis to keep the registry clean. But I did just within the last few days try Avast AV. It messed up my Steam games and started giving me windows Run Stop screens. I had been using AVG. I uninstalled it within 2 days of installing it. Now I'm just using Windows Defender. But Win 10 is always trying to add new junk that I have no use for, like syncing to an andriod or other devices. I don't use any of those type phones/devices. Nor do I have a touch screen, which is another bugaboo.

Win 10 keeps being as intrusive as it is I will go back to Win 7 64 Pro, the OS I had.

CCleaner is known to sometimes cause issues if you always click "fix all registry issues". It is also prone to bugs and should be used carefully. Anti virus software sometimes decide to delete completly safe files that are even nessesarry for software to function properly, steam is also an intrusive software that takes many liberties that can clash with other software. Just saying: sometimes computer maintenance can be a b1tch. Usually it all works fine, but then suddenly problems start piling up for no apparent reason.

Yeah, I too prefer win 7 over 10. I've had a lot of strange behaviour from my win 10, spent a lot of time modifying the operating system to smooth its behaviour out, got it pretty good now, but I keep asking myself when it will bug out on me again, at the next OS uptdate perhaps.... Windows 7 was rock solid through all Microshlt updates when compared to win 10.

Maybe. If others were having trouble I'd think that could be the case BUT I have updated recently enough they aren't bugging me to update again.

Oh... yeah that might explain how your registry is behaving oddly then. One of those 'should help but sometimes screws things up programs'. I often hate antiviruses because they slow down the system as badly as a virus would. With protection like that you sometimes beg for the disease instead.

@Toffer,
I saw your post about thermal paste needing to be re-applied every 2 years. 1st of heard of that. But something I can try. I have not done that since I got this comp 4 years ago. CPU runs at 49-50*C. i7 2600k 3.2Ghz and no overclocking either. It was used when I bought off Ebay. Iirc made in 2010 or 2011.

It's good to change it once in a while, though 49-50°C isn't anything to worry about, it wouldn't cause CPU glitches or noticeable lifetime reduction.

I'm getting a hang in one of my games. I think I've narrowed it down to Windradyne the Hero about to be built in my capital. I just restarted my comp for the second time and that seems to be the one constant. So this next time I'm going to remove or move him down the build queue. And see if it will progress.

News at 11, maybe....

Please send me the save in a case like that. I've not been able to replicate the other reported hang sadly.
yeppers "Inquisitor" STILL CTD, here's mini
The mini confirmed something I can't fix in the code is the problem and that it was a problem with the reference to the button but that's been re-established and reproven to work in the pedia, so I would need to know more. What are you trying to do here that's leading to this?

Check the size of the button for the unit. If it is wrong it will show up OK in the UI and pedia but will break the exe when it changes it to put it in the circle at the end of the city bar on the map. It must be 64x64 pixels.
It's 64 by 64 she says.

SVN 9902, just hit end of turn button or press enter. I have tried removing Windradyne and that did not change the EoT hang. I have let it go as long as 15 minutes in my repeated tries to get past it.

Check the filesize, is it the same as other 64x64 buttons?
There exist different .dds encoding formats, different encodings result in different filesizes and the BtS engine may be picky about the encoding.

Something I've noticed after I update to a new SVN version and then transfer the new set of files to my Play copy. In win 10 as you transfer the files there is a pop up box that shows up and show the number of files being transferred and how fast the transfer is taking per file. That said every time the tranfer pop up gets to the .dds files it will plummet in transfer speed. Literallty going as low as 0 kb/sec from a high of as much as 70 Mb/s transfer rate right before. I've thought about writing down the name of the .dds file it slows down or stops on for a second or 2. But I can't write that fast to get the full files name. One was iirc huran rider.dds or something like that last time. It will do this sometimes several times when doing the transfer.
