If you can export a regular 3ds instead of max format I can play around with it :) I'm still a beginer though :p

Ok, I guess I'll go ahead and start this thread back up
Just remember everybody, be cronstructive I'm useing c4d 8 and I've haven't got it figured out yet :p this is mainly for Piernik's feedback and so he can see how it looks after transplanting ;)

Piernik, this is the first 'render' to see how it looks.

I would suggest lifting it off the ground a bit. That would only require changing the way the shadow appears under the unit. I think giving it the appearance of having a couple of feet of air under it would be good.

ok - it's nice:)

Few suggestions... Have you got such madifier called MeshSmooth or something like that? It adds more polygo so model is smoother...

I know it's only a preview but you have to change a camera to look like in civ3 - take Modern Armour to compare.
Next one is a smoother shadows... and for better results give background color give R255 G0 B255. It's the best solution...
Than change the color of civspecific color to blue.. most pallets form game have blue as civspecific color.

And when you'll render image frame by frame turn off anti-alising. It will help you to get rid of smoothness around the model.

Though you're doing great job - good luck;)

Agreed, looks great!

I'm the first to admit that I'm hoplessly impaired graphically, but would it be -- possible? desriable? -- to have dust billowing out from under the skirts, more obviously suggesting the surface-effects nature of the beast?

PLEASE keep up the great work!

Ok, I'll post again when I'm closer to game ready :)
Thanks for the input, it was very helpful.
:)

ozymandias: these units are over the surface not because they are using some kind of great engine that creates wind turned down, but using electromagnetic field which is so strong that lifts the whole vehicle;)

Ah, I didn't know -- I was reminded very much of some of the "Traveller 2300" air cushion vehicles, complete with armored skirts and intakes.

... C'est la guerre ...

Ok, here's what I've got so far  I've used up much of my time edditing different settings and finding the right render settings.......I think I've just about got it. :D

I need to fine tune the light I'm useing for the shadow.
Coordinates requested. :scan:

I see that you don't have smooth modifier:) shame:( I think the lights or texture are too bright. And you forgot to lift it and change red color to blue..

About camer I think you should give the view little up.. Am I right?

And so far not bad;)
