If the little dial in the middle is not moving, no water is flowing. when it turns, it means that water is going into the building.
But would it be moving all of the time? Or only when someone uses water (in whichever way).

Or you have a husband who forgot to turn the hose off outside and let water pour into your yard all winter and which you don't discover until you get a $2000 quarterly water bill. The dial spins when water flows. the more water moving through, the faster it will spin. If all faucets are off and the dial is spinning, you likely have a leak or a toilet that is running.
Why? He was the one who did it, not me.
I am most fortunate not to be married to you, MaryKB.
Well being such a husband, that is certainly not a case of justifiable homicide. It is just a case of a loving husband who focuses his attention on his beautiful wife rather than the mundane issue of "yard work".Or you have a husband who forgot to turn the hose off outside and let water pour into your yard all winter and which you don't discover until you get a $2000 quarterly water bill.

How is it that neither of you noticed a huge buildup of ice in a place where it usually wouldn't happen? Or do you live somewhere that never gets below freezing?Or you have a husband who forgot to turn the hose off outside and let water pour into your yard all winter and which you don't discover until you get a $2000 quarterly water bill.
It was last year (2020-2021) and he left it running by accident. Snow piled up over it and never melted ... we didn't go out in the backyard all winter, and just never noticed. There wasn't anything visible (other than a slight decrease in water pressure) It was the water leak detector guy who found it.How is it that neither of you noticed a huge buildup of ice in a place where it usually wouldn't happen? That sounds quite close to the aphorism that states one should keep one's mouth shut and risk looking an idiot rather than opening it and confirming it.
