UK Politics VI - Will Britain Steir to Karmer Waters?

Spoiler :

The Tories created the powers, is it Labour that is going to turn it up to 11?

Starmer announces new capability to tackle violent disorder

The prime minister has just announced that a new national capability across police forces will be set up to tackle violent disorder.

This includes the wider deployment of facial recognition technology and criminal behaviour orders, he says.

Starmer makes the announcement after unrest across cities in the UK followed the stabbing attack in Southport.

Not surprising at all. It's a common practice to have governments do unpopular stuff until they are used up, then bring the next party as a reserve and do more unpopular stuff until it is used up and so on.
Besides, the labour leadership spells corporate ownership from a continent away.

Who's being arrested and interrogated for asking questions, natural or unnatural?

Nobody that I know of in England yet.

But that is what the Super-Moderator advocated.

If these "natural questions" somehow inspired EDL members to attack a mosque, then I would suggest that they were very much not natural and those who spread those "questions" should be interrogated for inciting violence.

"The Super Moderator". Classy as always, Edward.

While it is indeed possible to deliberately draft a set of questions in such a way that they intend to incite violence, constitute a libel, breach of
national security official secret information, regulatory rules on fixing markets etc etc; such targeted question sets are inherently not natural questions.

And I see no reason why people ought to be admonished for asking natural questions, that spring to mind when learning of such murders.

According to yesterday's dead tree format of the UK 'i' newspaper: "Judge Andrew Menary KC said he would not impose an order under section 45
of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999, which is used to give anonymity to those aged younger than 18 in criminal courts."

The judge is quoted there as saying:

"continuing to prevent the full reporting has the disadvantage
of allowing others to spread misinformation, in a vacuum."

Define "natural questions", in the context of Farage's comments?

-------------------------

Also I find it incredibly interesting that we had more pages on paint on Stonehenge / paint at a darts (or was it pool?) competition than we've had over the far-right throwing themselves all over the UK over the past few days.

Anyone who normally stands up for decorum in politics willing to decry such behaviour? This is an open question and not aimed at any poster.

It's even getting covered on CNN:

The current protests/riots are making strange bedfellows.

Anti immigrant protesters from Dublin travelled up to Belfast to join a [loyalist] anti immigration protest.

Normally if that group had a tricolour it would be to set it alight.

I have come to the conclusion that some people just enjoy riots.

And are prepared to travel to indulge their hobby.
There was once a plan in the Eu to allow traveling (not from the country of the riot) uniform/footman police, to "help". That'd have been a colossal disaster; police already are known to be very right wing, couple that with fighting foreign people and you would end up easily with goth imperial guard massacres in Rome/Byzantine Empire.

If I am understanding this right a crowd of people have tried to set light to a building with people in it, while fighting the police to keep them from putting the fire out. They used their phones to video and narrate this, and uploaded it to youtube. We have had people sent down for 5 years for a zoom call, and the sort of group culpability that gets used against drill music. I wonder what these people will face.

I would usually provide a reference, but that would consist of a youtube from someone who seems quite into burning people, so I will just post my search terms: Holiday Inn Express in Rotherham

In light of the pogroms, I wish to share a article by Michael Richmond and Alex Charnley on this with a historical context in Britain. In edited excerpt from their book Fractured, the authors explore the relationship between street racism and the modernisation of policing and immigration controls.

I also recommend the book they wrote, by the way.

Are you racist? Why do the things you type make me think you're racist?

I'm just asking questions here.
