Using the [RD] prefix

Is anyone else seeing the word SERIOUS in the Red Diamond thread titles? It looks ridiculous.

Are we not allowed to challenge another's motive or sentiment in RD threads? Like, "why are you choosing to talk about this here" or "What are you really saying, because I don't consider the matter under the field of plain academics"?

edit: e.g. can I spontaneously start a RD thread on the successes I feel researchers had "curing" homosexuality with electric shock, drugs or lobotomies and expect it to be above impunity as long as the data is factual?

At the very least, I would think that would garner a non-RD thread mocking the premise and allowing an outlet for posts so that your RD would safely sink off the first page.

By the way - it would be very offensive to some who have had family members unsuccessfully "treated" with such nonsense.

Yeah but they be talking the serious business of gaming. We only be talking trivialities such as politics, economics, spirituality and what we've just seen on Facetube.

RD threads are for a higher level of discussion as well as a higher level of moderation relative to the rest of OT. I think we were pretty clear that smilie posts or drive-by's are considered spam in RD. You're welcome to challenge the OP as long as you're adhering to the guidelines laid out in the OP. Notably:
"No trolling. No name-calling. No insults. No ad-hominem attacks. Discuss in a mature manner."

If your post is in line with that standard and the rest of the site rules, then there shouldn't be any problem. RD isn't about restricting viewpoints - it's about restricting derails; it's not about lack of humor, it's about humor that informs; it's not about robust moderation, it's about robust debate.

And it's about a colorful prefix ;)

Are you saying that the rest of CFC doesn't survive, or that it doesn't have RD-level moderation? RD-level moderation hasn't got much to do with the inappropriate content rules. If something counts as inappropriate content in an RD thread, it'll still be inappropriate in a non-RD thread. If you think you've come across something inappropriate, report it, and the local mod(s) will deal with it as they see appropriate.

I have reported it. My reports have gone unanswered.

Camikaze, I have stated my objections to these photos before, during, and after my time as a moderator. That goes back years. The fact that Lefty sees nothing wrong with them tells me that you can't say that "RD-level moderation" goes on all over the forum. Would you allow such photos in the pet threads in OT? I doubt it.

Birdjaguar recently moved a thread to H&J. As a consequence of his having done that, I deleted my post from that thread. I want none of my posts to appear in that forum until such photos are gone and a rule is enforced that says showing pictures of kittens/cats stuffed into appliances and enclosed spaces where they could suffocate are prohibited. These pictures are not funny, and they promote animal abuse. That's hardly Red Diamond-quality moderation to allow such photos.

Moderator Action: Need I remind you of the following:
Public discussion of moderator actions (PDMA)
Public discussion of actions taken or not taken by moderators or admins is not permitted.
Although you're free to discuss general site policy in the Site Feedback forum (H&J policy is not the topic of this thread), you're clearly referring to action not taken against specific posts. Discuss this via PM with the relevant moderator or a super mod.

Then why have a Site Feedback area at all, if we're not allowed to complain that something needs doing and never gets done?

I disagree that H&J isn't relevant. You yourself made the fantastic claim that the entire forum ("the rest of CFC") outside of OT is held to Red Diamond moderation standards. This is obviously not true.

Moderator Action: Please don't ignore moderator warnings; telling you to stop PDing one MA doesn't mean you can start on another. If you have a problem with a moderator warning in future, take it up via PM and not in a public thread.
