We've seen the game now for a bit and I guess we all have our little or not so little criticisms and things that we want to have changed. But what is the most pressing change (aside from the obvious renaming cities)?

Happy to include more options if suggested.

I‘m surprisingly unhappy with the map generation. The block continents don‘t look appealing, even a Pangaea type Homelands needs more peninsulas, narrows, etc. And while rivers are generated nicely, I miss mountain ranges, and vast patches of similar terrain (large deserts, jungles or woods). It‘s probably not generated with these features on purpose, but the Homeland map is (aside from an abundance of resources) boring in most games I‘ve seen.

Big maps, better generators, more civs. As first game I would like to play large maps with smallish islands and lot’s of (rough) ocean to prevent/limit forward settling.

Propably does not happen.

More map types, also a "Rename city" feature should return.
I would say more of a “Choose your civs name feature” where you can choose whether to keep or change or customize your civs name….and then spreading a similar model to the cities. It really should be the players choice whether they want to be building Greek, American, GrecoNormanAmerican, or Texan tanks in the modern Age.

Genuinely voting UI without even looking what the other options are. It's the only part of the game I'm actively disliking so far.

Tech tree Icons!

Instead of a billion plus icons in the tech, culture and civ trees, it would be so much better if they were differentiated!

Especially things lice codexes, settlement cap increase, unlocking commanders, and such.

Also all the yeild imcreases really could be a muted coin with a white plus for gold income increase, a muted cultural symbol with a plus and so on.

I agree. It‘s on one side baffling how this did not make it into the game yet, on the other hand, some are very specific and hard to communicate with a pictogram, e.g., Mandarin now getting science when creating a road. But the + could stay for these only.

For me, delete the specific ressources requierment for unlock next age civilizations, and instead have prerequisites that does not depend on the generation of the map.

Unallow a player from playing the strategy they want because a bonus resource is too far from their starting position, or even absent from the map, is absurd.

Even theese could be better, all Improvement realed ones could have a hexagonal shape, a faint icon of the yeild it improves (for example a science beaker).

If it is related to a unit the icon could have another shape ( a stylized head on shoulders perhaps).

If it is for every civ it could have a white plus, and if only for a specific civ it could be an * instead.

Redo all icons. Most of them are ugly and I really can't tell what is what on most of them.
In fact, just redo the whole UI please, it's just bad.
