What Video Games have you been playing II: Have you finished that backlog?

That's like telling a cocaine addict "do heroin instead, you'll feel better".
You should have played them in the order they were made. Fallout and Fallout II are both legally available for free.

Much to my dismay. I had bought the Fallout Classic Collection (Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics) about a month or so before the first two games became available for free. The Classic Collection was still pretty cheap at around $15, but free is still better than cheap; especially since I bought it for the first two games and have no real interest in Fallout Tactics.

I have tried getting into Tactics, needless to say it failed (so far).

Fallout Tactics is pretty fun if you turn off the active battle stuff and play it turn based. It's obviously not as great as the Fallout games proper but it's well worth checking out.

The main thing that turns me off to it is the story is not considered Fallout canon. Being the story-oriented person I am, I just feel like I am wasting my time playing a game that officially doesn't contribute anything to the wider narrative.

Interestingly, the BOS armour of Tactics does resemble the Enclave armour in FO3 and FONV.

Actually it's considered semi-canon. You'd have to look up the details because I don't remember them off the top of my head but the gist is that the broader story and major events did happen (some are even referenced in Fallout 3) but the details are not 100% canonical.

Well the official status of Fallout Tactics is that it is "semi-canon". Of course if it were considered full canon, then it would serve as a nice bridge showing how the BOS eventually spread from the California wastelands all the way to the Capital Wasteland in Fallout 3.

I played around with the new CKII expansion today. In my second game, I role played as one of my friends from high school (Chinese fellow, pretty nice guy) and, with a seduction focus, seduced several random hot chicks all across the Mediterranean and Europe (including Germans, Italians, GREEKS, Levantine Christians, and more), some hot pregnant Russian girl, Alexios Komnenos' mom, all three of Alexios Komnenos' sisters, and the Queen of Hungary/Holy Roman Princess. Unfortunately all the other HRE princesses were celibate for some reason, but oh well. Tomorrow I think I'll go for Matilda of Tuscany and some of the d'Hauteville girls. Even then I think I already have somewhere around fifteen lovers, a new one each year!

But sadly, there is one woman whose heart I couldn't win.

My own wife.

(Though that's because for whatever reason the devs made it so you can't seduce your own spouse. I'll keep that in mind next time - seduce first, then marry.)

Man I dunno what my high school friend would think if I'm roleplaying as him and getting all this action. Must be a bit historically inaccurate to see a Chinese Byzantine doux banging all those Christian noblewoman.

IIRC the lore position of Tactics is "it's canon, unless we state otherwise".

Wot, no incest? I'm disappointed in you cybrxkhan...:p

I've been reading up on the Oregon Trail game. It's fitting that a good game starts with people trying to get away from Missouri.

East Asians attracting all the white women? Completely unstereotyped, I'd say.

I have a ruler designed character, so no sibling bonding yet, sadly. I do have a relatvely even ratio of sons and daughters, though, so they can all be paired up easily so no one gets left behind.

Although, to be honest, this game is getting a bit too silly with the medieval swinger orgy, so I'll probably try a new game, ruler design one of my other nice (Chinese) friends from high school.

Where all da white women at

Given that ~70% of my CKII games I ruler design an Asian as my starting character, I'd say I'm overcoming stereotypes indeed. I have always enjoyed seeing the Asian genes spread like some kind of virus all across Europe's Royal lines within a century or two in my games.

Sadly, though, on the other hand, this means that even with and other than incest, there sometimes aren't enough Asians around to marry into my family just to make sure the Asian genes stay strong.

Man, CKII is suci a deliciously twisted game.
