It can be either the first one you played, the first you saw being played, or the first you owned yourself.

I remember all three for me. I am pretty certain i first saw a computer game when i was 8 years old, at some birthday party of another kid who owned a computer. The game on it was Arcanoid. I did not play though, merely watched.

I got my first computer, an Amstrad cpc6128 when i was 9. The first game that loaded up in the screen was a platform-game called Roland In Time.

Here is an image from that:

And you? :)

First computer was a Gateway, I think it was 1998. It came with a few microsoft games. Age of Empires was awesome and there was a Dilbert's Desktop game that was awesome, lol.

I feel so young. X-Wing over here - came out 1993, got it in 1996.

The first game I played was called Whirlinerd, or something like that, for the C64. Nobody else seems to remember it and I can't find anything about it online.

You had a little guy with a rotor-blade on top of his head, and you had to navigate levels without touching the platforms and while dodging these weird floating eyeball things.

You were affected by gravity, so if you let go of the joystick you began to fall. Obviously, you needed to find the correct balance between falling and moving upwards to get around the obstacles.

Moving through small gaps without colliding with the walls was tricky, but if you didn't do it fast enough you'd often miss the opening in the monsters as they moved about.

Oh hey, here we go - I had the spelling wrong:

I'm pretty sure it was this one:

Swiss Family Robinson, a graphical text adventure game.

In 1984, Tom Snyder Productions created a game for the Apple II and Commodore 64, published under the Windham Classics label. The player takes the role of Fritz, the eldest brother.

POD: Planet of Death :D

Original Lemmings was one of the earliest for me so I'd probably go with that.

Can't remember with exactitude the very first. It's either Punch Out at a friend's home, Legend of Zelda through a TV add (probably the first of its kind :p) or Falcon's Patrol (an obscure game on C64) at another friend's home.

My first PC game, that is a tough one and I don't remember the name. But it was some kind of terrible graphics side scrolling monster back in the early 90s. You would shoot thugs or something.

Something like number crunchers in 1994. Then we got Windows 95 computers the next year with Oregon Trail and all those games. And the following year someone installed Civ2 on the two computers in the Library.

I think it was Soccer II (or International Soccer, which is the actual name as I found out searching for pictures) on the C64.
